While there are
cartoons depicting Jesus Christ, the Pope, and every other popular figure in
history created every day, Muslims seem to have an overwhelming anger control
problem when a simple cartoon of their "beloved" Mohammed is printed. I personally
don't respect Mohammed nor do I believe that he was anything other than a mere
man, but lots of people will say the same about Jesus Christ.
What I don't understand is why it's ok for people to create things like
"Dress-up Jesus" and not Mohammed the so-called "prophet". It's all "funny ha!
ha!" when someone else is the butt of the joke, but if it's a "Muslim prophet",
look out, you may get assassinated. The crazy thing about this entire situation
is that the cartoon leaves a lot to be desired anyway. The cartoon of Mohammed
looks as if it was drawn by a second grade student with a handful of crayons.
You don't see Christians running around shooting RPGs at people because of some
dress-up Jesus website. As a Christian, I know my God is the Almighty and if
people want to depict Him in what they view as a humorous way, fine. I may not
like it, but I'm sure not going to burn an embassy over the deal. Some people
get bent out of shape about things like that, which is fine. But, when you start
blowing people up because there was a cartoon drawn, it just gives the cartoon
in question that much more weight.
Condi Rice made a statement on ABC saying: “Everybody understands that there’s a
sense of outrage, that these cartoons were inappropriate in the Muslim world,”
Rice said. “But you don’t express your outrage by going out and burning down
embassies. … You express your outrage peacefully.”
The sad truth to all of this "hub-bub" is that Muslims are proving to the world
just how hot-headed, violent and intolerant they really are. I do understand
that the Muslims who are promoting this violence are part of the "extreme". I
also understand that not all Muslims are violent, nor are they extreme, but the
radicals are sure giving their religion a very bad name.
Now to seek revenge, a newspaper in Iran is running a contest asking Iranians to
submit cartoons of the Holocaust. This just goes to show the desire of Iran and
it's people to finish the evil deeds of Hitler and wipe the Jews off of the map
in the Middle East. There were cartoons created in the Middle East shortly after
9/11 depicting planes crashing into buildings with terrorists seen waving from
the cockpit windows. Did we as Americans begin blowing up or burning down Middle
Eastern embassies? The answer is no, we didn't.
I think the cartoon was nothing more than an excuse for Muslim radicals to
incite violence. They'll take every opportunity to cause chaos and destruction,
to intimidate and bully in order to try to further push Islam on others. In
reality, the only thing these radical barbarians are proving is that they are
just small, weak minded, little people who choose to hide behind weapons instead
of using their minds to peacefully display their disapproval. Muslims seem to be
the only ones who react this way to something so minor. I've never seen a group
of Buddhists burning down buildings or killing people over such things. Couldn't
they just as easily have written letters or made telephone calls to one of
Denmark's embassies? Wouldn't that have been the sane thing to do?
