A Challenge to a Traitor
by
Doug Hagin
In this
nation we live in many of us can just not get a handle on some things
and some people and ideals. Sure, we can all recognize that there are
folks with some differing views on politics and America’s role in the
21st century world. However, for those of us who love America and its
greatness we simply cannot grasp how some could live here and take
advantage of the liberties of America while supporting its enemies.
Robert Jensen, a journalism professor at the University of Texas, is
such a person. Now Professor Jensen, a self-confessed radical, would
never freely admit to loathing America and the Constitution, but
frankly, he does not have to. His hateful and ignorant writings tell the
true story about his decidedly anti-American ideals.
Consider that Jensen never seems to write or say anything good about
America. At best, he will admit there are some good principles about the
United States. Of course when one considers how many times this man has
called America a terrorist state, or hinted that we are just a bunch of
imperialistic people seeking to subjugate the rest of the world, you
begin to see how he really feels.
Consider some of the incredibly inane things Jensen has opined about
America in recent years. He has written repeatedly about America being
guilty of killing innocent civilians, and bringing terror to the world.
He has berated our system of government, by far the best system in the
world, as backwards and inhumane, and of course racist and oppressive.
Possibly the most asinine things Mr. Jensen has written lately are his
praise of Yasir Arafat, one of the worlds most vicious terrorists, and
his celebrating what his demented mind sees as American military defeat
in Iraq. In fact, Mr. Jensen even says the world will be safer and
better off when America is not only defeated but dismantled as well.
Now Mr. Jensen is an American, no matter how much this obviously
irritates his poor Socialist soul. Moreover, as an American he is free
to wrap his hate and ignorance in the United States Constitution. He is
quite free to preach his anti-American and pro-terrorist rhetoric all
day long. There is, however, something quite sickening about a cowardly
little man, who defends murderers and terrorists and says the world will
be better if America is defeated and dismantled, while using the
American freedoms to do so.
Now I am sure if Robert Jensen reads this he will squeal about how he
has a right to dissent and how he would is not anti-American, or
pro-terrorist. Well sorry to upset you Mr. Jensen, but when you
celebrate American military defeat, which of course is not even close to
happening, and heap praise on terrorists like the ones we fight in Iraq
and Yasir Arafat then yes, yes, yes, you are both anti-American and
pro-terrorist.
Now consider this Mr. Jensen, you are using your freedom of speech to
support America’s demise as a world power. You have done so repeatedly
and you will likely continue to do so. I wonder Mr. Jensen, have you
ever truly considered how strange it is that you use freedoms that would
be non-existent if America fell, as you wish to happen.
I would hope you might offer yourself at least a little time to think
about that irony. You seek to destroy the very country that protects
your freedom to speak your hate. Here is yet another interesting
question you just might allow your mind to ponder. The very troops you
are hoping are defeated and killed while fighting terrorists are
American men and women who are fighting to preserve YOUR right to spew
your venom.
Now before Mr. Jensen, you claim not to be hopeful of American soldiers
deaths in Iraq consider what your hateful rantings really mean. When you
cheer a nation’s military defeat, you are, in fact, cheering the deaths
of that nations troops. Face it Mr. Jensen, nations do not lose wars, as
you want America to do, if they do not lose soldiers killed in massive
numbers. Tell me Mr. Jensen how many brave young Americans dying will
sate your hatred?
Tell me one more thing Mr. Jensen do you care, even a little about the
pain you have caused the grieving families and friends of the soldiers
who have given their lives to defend your freedoms? Do you ever feel
even the smallest twinge of guilt that you are, in effect, spitting on
the graves of not only those who have given their lives in defense of
your freedoms but every American soldier who ever fell in the cause of
liberty? Do you care Mr. Jensen? Or does your hatred of America run so
deep that you feel no guilt? How about the innocent Israeli children
slaughtered by Arafat? Do you cheer their deaths too Mr. Jensen?
Now I might consider asking you the most obvious of questions Mr.
Jensen. That question, naturally being if you hate us so much why don’t
you just leave? It is a fair question but you, of course, would never
leave America and the prosperity and freedom it gives you. Clearly, you
are not only a supporter of terrorism but also a hypocrite as well Mr.
Jensen.
Just one more question Mr. Jensen. Are you so foolish as to believe you
would still enjoy a right to speak if the United States fell? Are you so
out of touch as to think your Socialist utopia would honor your right to
dissent?
Just one more thing Mr. Jensen, please feel free to call me on this
column. I would welcome the chance to dismantle your evil ravings in an
open debate. Now I have heard you on Sean Hannity’s show and Michael
Medved’s as well. When challenged you showed your elitist nature and
tried to paint these men as unable to grasp your superior intellect. Sad
truth is this Mr. Jensen, you are not a man of superior intelligence at
all. You are simply a hateful little man who has been educated beyond
your hat size.
