Declaration of Independence

John Adams

A Defense of the American Constitutions, 1787

"The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If 'Thou shalt not covet' and 'Thou shalt not steal' were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free...."

J. Thomas Lowry
I
- Biography

J.Thomas Lowry is a freelance writer, author, poet, and conservative historian. He writes from the perspective of a conservative with intellectual ties to Burke, Adams, Churchill, Weaver, Meyer, Buckley, and a strong affection for Pat Buchanan.

He played his first chess tournament at age three and was an above average three-sport athlete. He wrote his first article at age nine and found out later that it was fun to publish anonymously or with a pen name, a practice he continues today.  He has worked as a correspondent, staff writer, ghostwriter (Not Ghost Stories), and government worker. He is married to a cardiac researcher.

In addition to writing for TheRealityCheck.org, Lowry has served as an editor, associate editor, and regular columnist for a dozen web sites.  His work has appeared in forty newspapers, three books, and in over 270 print articles on a wide variety of issues.  His meager website is located at http://www.knology.net/jtl
.  He enjoys feedback from readers, good or bad.

His hobbies include Classical Music, Reading, Latin, Hiking, and spending as much time as possible drinking Dr. Pepper.

"We have no government armed with the power capable of contending with human passions, unbridled by morality and true religion.  Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other"   -  John Adams
