Maricopa County (Arizona) Sheriff Joe Arpaio — hailed by many as America’s Sheriff – is under attack for cracking down on illegal aliens. The liberal-left politicians, activists and members of the news media are vilifying Sheriff Arpaio for his department’s immigration and crime sweeps in and around Phoenix.In response to the federal complaints regarding his activities, Sheriff Arpaio dispatched deputies on a two-day “crime suppression” operation. While heralded by the men and women he serves, Arpaio’s sweeps have been characterized as racial profiling by opponents of immigration enforcement.
The nationwide enforcement of immigration law has been under the gun since President Barack Obama took his oath of office. Many political leaders, mostly Democrats, have targeted enforcement agencies and agents over the past few months with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi calling immigration raids “Un-American” and Congressman Luis Guttierez calling Border Patrol agents “The Gestapo.”
Attorney General Eric Holder has also threatened Arpaio with a federal investigation of his Sheriff’s Department and its activities as a result of his success at capturing hundreds of criminal aliens.
“Nothing has changed,” Arpaio told a Reuters reporter while overseeing an operation in a suburb northwest of Phoenix. “We’re still going to be doing what we’ve been doing tonight and during the last two and a half years. I don’t take orders from anyone.”
Sheriff Arpaio first carried out the sweeps after his deputies underwent training offered by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement that gave participating state and local police officers authority to make immigration arrests during the Bush Administration. However, during the Obama Administration deputies have now lost their arrest powers as far as immigration laws on the streets.

Tell Sid he needs to run for the Presidency right away!! I think this issue is so out of control with the efforts of the open border/cheap labor foundations and lobby groups, that the people could be totally ignored. I resent that a very great deal too.

Joe Arpaio is not a law men. He is a charlatan and a coward hidding behind a badge. He doesn’t go after real criminals. He is no more than a trafic cop.

Sheriff Joe is the man! We need more law enforcement officers like him. In my state, I have written several “Letters to the Editor” regarding the “soft”, country club treatment of inmates.
I have been verbally attacked by the bleeding heart liberals. I don’t care…I think the criminal justice system should be more like the military Uniform Code of Military Justice, where a lot of your rights are forfeit. Liberals beware: our day is coming! If you are naive enough to think the police can protect you…well, I feel sorry for you. I don’t dial 911…I pick up my two friends:

Thank you Joe for your efforts to ENFORCE the law! Obama should rethink his sworn oath to uphold the laws of this nation (an oath he took when becoming President) and look on one of his teleprompter for a definition of breaking the law.

I would like to make a point that clearly is clear to me. If Janet Napolitano were doing here job and taking care of the border, the City of Phoenix would not have to have Joe Arpiao doing much of anything about illegal aliens… the Border Patrol would have enough men to do the job. But that is NOT what is happening. What IS happening is… many illegal aliens are cha chaing up from the Border and doing crime. I would bet a bundle Sheriff Joe isn’t catching half the people coming north at this point, and if we are going to protect the American People from illegal aliens… and that is very appropriate.. and terrorists, we have to have a secure border. Janet Napolitano has not reamed anyone about the crummy job Boeing is doing on the electronic fence promised so long ago, and isn’t putting the people on the line required to do the job. If Janet does her job.. the problem will be cured.
A last point: I don’t think America’s idea of a secure border is anything at all like Janet Napolitano’s idea and that should worry every single person in a tall building at this point.

It amazes me that people would be against one of the few people who gives a darn about going after illegal aliens who break any and all law they don’t like. Sheriff Joe is doing what he was elected to do – enforce the laws! Why is that wrong? The illegals will scream racism anytime they are being held responsible for their crimes.

Where does the Sheriff get his power?
I don’t know what the Federal Government is going to do about the Good Sheriff. Sheriffs are Constitutional officers, not U. S. Constitution but State Constitution.
The states created the Constitution which empowers the Federal government. Also, the Tenth Amendment reserves to the states respectively, or to the people, any powers the Constitution did not delegate to the United States, nor prohibit the states from exercising.
The office of sheriff is created by the Constitution of the Great State of Arizona. The sheriff is bound by the oath to uphold the Constitution of the state and answerable only to the people of the state NOT the Federal Government. The office of sheriff IS a part of the checks and balances of the United States of America. It is there to prevent the Federal Government from doing what it is trying to do today.
So what is the Federal Government going to do? Amend the Arizona State Constitution? I think not.

It is time to stand up for this country. We need to form a protest!!! We don’t even have to leave our homes. Everyone who is against illegal immigration should just walk out their front door and stand in front of their home. This is ridiculous to have to choose a language to get through to an operator. Hell, we don’t have enough jobs for all of these people coming to this country. Other people deserve to come to this country, too! America, we need to take a stand. If illegals can walk our American streets waving foreign flags so disgracefully, we need to get out and march and let Washington know we are not okay with foreigners bringing our country down. Let’s get together and march, protest, or whatever it takes. Obama and Congress need to hear the strong voice of the real American people. I my self am a law enforcment officer in Texas. All for rounding up unlawful aliens an deporting such said. but the ends don’t justify the means. Police can’t use that as an excuse. If they do every time the red and blue lights come on someone’s constitutional rights WILL be violated… may be yours. FYI i am a conservative, with an open mind, and as an officer i constantly ask my self before i do any thing would i have that done to me. So what i am saying is, if you were to go to mexico legaly , would you like to be pulled over soley because you are of anglican/caucasian decent… and have your freedoms supressed because of that. if you answered yes, you lied to your self. if no then good, cause it happens every day down there. See you have just put your self in their shoes. Power to the Sheriff, im glad he is enforcing immagration, the Lord knows our feds won’t do it. but proper channels must be taken… thank you.
