From its inception, America was seemingly destined to expand westward until its territory reached from “sea to shining sea.” As a result, Americans continued to expand nationally seeking new lands, new adventures, new opportunities, and, of course, new freedoms. Therefore, Americans eventually accepted their “manifest destiny,” since expansionism became dominant again in the early 1840s.

However, in the 21st century, seemingly a new “manifest destiny” has evolved in postmodern America. This new “manifest destiny” is mainly engrained within the minds of many elected politicians, specifically, at present, the Democratic Party. These elected officials, from the chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate to the Oval Office at the White House, have dogmatically decided that America should mandate a new “manifest destiny” during the current recession. Of course, based on their actions, it would create a new political and economic monstrosity that would ultimately destroy the ability of the United States to remain the most important and the most powerful nation in the world.

Why has the President of the United States and the Democratically-controlled Congress taken this course of action? Could their actions actually be out of their control? In fact, could an external force, as ridiculous as it might sound, be the main rationale for their actions? Ultimately, it could indeed be an external influence at work, the influence of the invisible, Hand of God. However, why would God, in His infinite wisdom, get involved personally with the internal affairs of the United States? Basically, the sins of the people in America, just like the sins of the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, might possibly have gained His direct scrutiny and intervention into their lives. But, how do God’s actions affect the actions of America’s elected politicians?

God has always used mankind to carry out His plans on the earth, especially to correct the effects of mankind’s sins and rebellion against Him. However, most of the time, they did not know that He was using them to carry out His desires. In fact, in the Bible, there are several true stories depicting how God used one person or group of people in order to perform His will for another person or group of people. One such example is located in the Book of Jeremiah. In this true Biblical story, God was furious at His chosen people, the inhabitants of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, because they refused to obey His commandments. As stated in Jeremiah 25: 4-10,

4And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.
5They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:
6And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.
7Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.
8Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,
9Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.
10Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle

Therefore, based on these scriptures, it was obvious that God used an individual, in this case King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon, to carry out His desires to punish His sinful, idol-worshiping people during ancient times. Also, since rebellion always comes with a price, similar or worse curses or plagues could be placed against the United States of America, despite the fact that most Americans would not accept this premise. However, since God is not a respecter of persons, there is the distinct possibility that He might do it again today in postmodern America. In fact, God might be responsible for all the turmoil that is being encountered in the United States now by Christians and non-Christians alike.

Also, the ongoing problems that the President of the United States and the members of the House and Senate have been dealing with as a result of the current recession might just be caused by a series of curses that God might have spoken into existence. Most likely, these curses might have been placed on America for the sole purpose of waking up a rebellious and sinful nation that has turned its back to God’s love and mercy. As a result, God might just be manipulating the minds of some of America’s leaders to do negative things that would diversely affect the United States, such as spending billions of dollars of taxpayers’ money on useless programs, as if their strings were being pulled like a marionette puppet. Of course, as stated earlier, most Americans would totally disagree with this assumption.

However, Christians of all faiths who accept the dictates of God’s Holy Word should understand the projected thesis. God does place curses and plagues on people and nations for their rebellion against Him. As a result, what would be the best way to get the attention of all Americans? The best way would be to curse their ability to make money, which is a gift from God. As stated in Deuteronomy 8:18, “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is He that giveth thee power to get wealth.” Also, most people should remember the true story of the ten plagues placed on ancient Egypt by God, which ultimately got the attention of the Pharaoh who liberated God’s people from Egyptian bondage.

But, if the President and Congress are not being manipulated by God to spend trillions of dollars that would destroy the American Dream for Americans today and future generations, who is responsible and why? Another possible scenario would be the manipulation by Satan of America’s leaders to use their political power to destroy the greatest and largest Christian nation in the world from within. Of course, there are many examples of President Obama’s and Congress’ support of anti-Christian legislation and anti-Christian projects paid for with taxpayers’ money.

First, President Obama and much of Congress support the homosexual agenda, which apparently will eventually repeal the current “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy for gay and lesbian members of the military. If this is enacted by Congress and signed by the President, it could cause a “great divide” between homosexual and heterosexual military personnel. Sadly, it could reduce the effectiveness of the greatest military in the world, since most of the men and women who join the military today would prefer the current policy. Also, why should such a contested issue be introduced into a military situation at a time when the United States is fighting on two war fronts? As a result, Congress and President should think “twice” before they weaken the United States military by fulfilling a campaign pledge and going against the dictates of God. It should also be noted that even though cultural attitudes toward homosexuality may be changing in the 21st century, God’s attitude definitely has not. As stated in Malachi 3:6, “For I am the Lord, I change not.”

Second, President Obama and much of Congress support abortion, the murder of newborn babies, which could be the reason why there is not a cure for cancer and other dreaded diseases today. The person who God sent to discover it might just have already been aborted. Also, possibly all the science and math people that America needs for its high-tech jobs might have been aborted. Therefore, if the President and Congress were being manipulated by Satan to continue to support abortion, America might just continue their economic slide to the bottomless pit of debt.

Third, President Obama and much of Congress support the promotion of anti-Christian rhetoric by constantly praising anti-Christian faiths in their speeches, but, at the same time, never promoting the Christian faith. This can easily be seen in the President’s continual promotion and glorification of Islam as a “religion of peace.” Of course, this politically correct appraisal of Islam was too one-sided, since President Obama normally does not mention Christianity unless he is reminding the American populace, at least in his opinion, that America is no longer a Christian nation. Of course, the atheists and other anti-Christian groups probably drool every time those remarks are made by, of all people, the President of the United States, the President of the largest Christian community in the world.

Fourth, President Obama and much of Congress support the allocation of taxpayers’ money to pay for non-Christian religious projects on American military bases, such as the Neo-Pagan Circle of Stones’ project at the United States Air Force Academy, which will be dedicated in early March. Of course, different religious groups represented in the United States military should have a place to worship. However, any religion that worships the creation (Earth) instead of the Creator (God Jehovah) does not deserve a taxpayer-supported worship facility in a land that was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs.

If God nor Satan are manipulating President Obama and much of Congress to support efforts to destroy America from within, who is responsible and why? Let’s see. Could it be that President Obama and much of Congress are just stubborn and, as a result, refuse to bend to the will of the people? But, refusing to bend to the will of the people could cause many social and political problems for now and in the future.

For example, prior to the Peasant Revolt (1524-1525) in Germany, which was seven years after the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther addressed the nobles in an effort to prevent the possible confrontation between the peasants and their oppressors, the nobles. Luther said, “Let down your stubbornness…and give up a little of your tyranny and oppression, so that the poor people get air and room to live.” Unfortunately, the nobles did not heed Martin Luther’s advice. As a result, the Peasant Revolt erupted, which cost the death of people and the destruction of their property throughout Germany. Early in America’s history, a similar event occurred that got the attention of King George III, the stubborn king of England. It was the American Revolutionary War. However, America does not need another militarily-fought Revolutionary War. It just needs politicians to think sensibly and rationally before they act on the affairs of American citizens. Of course, listening to the will of the people wouldn’t hurt either. Fortunately, America’s new Tea Party Movement is working diligently to achieve that very goal.

Finally, if God and Satan are not manipulating President Obama and much of Congress to support efforts to destroy America from within and they are not stubborn either, who is responsible and why? This last scenario might just be the scariest option that could possibly be used to describe the current social and economic dilemma in postmodern America. Could it actually be a planned, socialistic agenda that the current administration has been secretly promoting since January 20, 2009? Is Socialism the new “manifest destiny” for the United States? Hopefully and prayerfully, it isn’t.

However, in reality, what is Socialism? Socialism is an economic system in which the government owns or at least controls a nation’s economy, including its businesses, factories, and other means of production. Socialists believe that the individual is unimportant when compared to the welfare of the group. They insist that the government must strictly regulate and control a nation’s resources in order to insure that everyone receives an equal share of the wealth. This is achieved through government legislation, regulation, and taxation. Therefore, is there a distinct possibility that socialism is being introduced into the American economy and government slowly but surely? Most likely, the answer is “yes,” since the United States government has already passed legislation that might be responsible for the destruction of America’s money supply like the American people have never seen. Also, the United States government has begun to regulate and control businesses in the private sector, which one of the definitions of Socialism. Ultimately, will high taxes be on the way? Will the American debt skyrocket and will the American job force continue to be unemployed as a result of President Obama’s and Congress’ actions?

Needless to say, America as a nation has many serious economic, social, and political problems, regardless if these problems are caused by a curse from God, an attack from Satan, the stubbornness of its leaders, or the introduction of the economic institution of Socialism into mainstream America. But, as a result, America is at the crossroads of her existence as a freedom-loving, God-fearing, and powerful nation. Therefore, it is time for patriotic Americans to develop their own “manifest destiny,” in order to curtail the apparent efforts of the current administration to destroy the United States from within through its new, improved, more socialistic “manifest destiny” agenda:

*Increased government spending, which requires borrowing billions of dollars from America’s enemies.
*Increased government tax hikes, which would be responsible for the destruction of the middle class and small business enterprises.
*Increased government involvement in the private sector, which gives it a controlling interest in private corporations.
*Increased government involvement in the personal lives of private American citizens, which would require them to purchase goods and services that they do not want.
*Increased government support of a “far from truthful” global warming agenda, which would have a twofold purpose: the equal distribution of wealth and the formation of a one world government.
*Increased government promotion of ungodly social agendas, which would make it almost senseless for the President of the United States to utter the words that have brought peace, hope and comfort to all Americans for centuries-“God Bless the United States of America.”
*Increased government support of a politically correct ideological agenda, which has made doing right, the wrong thing to do and doing wrong, the right thing to do.
*Increased government support of giving terrorists constitutional rights that should belong to American citizens only, which makes it more difficult to get vital information from America’s enemies.
*Increased government support of illegal immigration to America, which is too costly and too risky.
*Increased government surveillance of non-terrorist groups in America, which is responsible for the labeling of Christians, Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans, Tea Party activists, and anyone else who uses their First Amendment rights to speak out against the current administration as “potential terrorists.”

In conclusion, the ten provisions (plagues?) of postmodern America’s so-called “manifest destiny,” if continued to be supported by President Obama and Congress, might just be responsible for the internal destruction of the United States. It happened to the Roman Empire during the 5th century and it could very well happen to the United States, the most powerful and wealthiest nation in the world, during the 21st century. Therefore, all Americans should demand that their politicians lead them down a road that is safe, frugal, constitutional, and godly, not a road that goes against the moral values of its Judeo-Christian heritage. Ultimately, all Americans, Christian and non-Christian alike, should take heed to what is written in the Bible in Psalms 9:17, if America is to survive the attacks from outside the United States and within its own borders, too. It states, “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Thus saith the Word of God!
