** UPDATE ** BELOW Marvel Apologizes
Marvel Comic’s Captain America is the mightiest soldier with the super powerful secret soldier formula that makes him a super man. Sadly, this muscle bound hero that took on the whole Nazi army during WWII seems to be afraid of those American people who’ve joined the Tea Party movement. Not only is Cappy quaking in his little red booties, but he’s sure that the Tea Party folks are dangerous racists, too.
Isn’t it wonderful that a decades old American comic book hero is now being used to turn readers against our very political system, being used to slander folks that are standing up for real American principles in real life — and one called “Captain America” at that?
In issue number 602 of Captain America, a new story line has begun called “Two Americas.” In it the current Captain (there have been a few of them, apparently) is on the trail of a faux Captain America that is mentally deranged and getting chummy with some white supremacist, anti-government, survivalists types going by the name of “the Watchdogs.” While investigating this subversive group, Captain America and his partner The Falcon — a black super hero — have decided to try and infiltrate the secretive organization.
In preparation for the infiltration, Marvel Comics depicts the two super heroes out of costume and observing from a rooftop a street filled with what can only be described as a Tea Party protest. The scene shows crowds of people in city streets carrying signs that say, “stop the socialists,” “tea bag libs before they tea bag you,” and “no to new taxes.” Naturally, the people in these crowds are depicted as being filled with nothing but white folks.
The black character asks the out of costume Captain, “What the hell is this?” And follows that with, “looks like some kind of anti-tax protest.” The Falcon character then snidely tells his partner the Captain, “So I guess this whole ‘hate the government’ vibe around here isn’t limited to the Watchdogs.”
The two then discuss their plan to infiltrate the subversive group that Marvel comics seems to be linking to the Tea Party movement. This discussion culminates in The Falcon wondering how a black man would do such a thing. “I don’t exactly see a black man from Harlem fitting in with a bunch of angry white folks,” he tells the incognito Captain America.
The Captain tells him, “no it’s perfect… this all fits right into my plan.” After this we find that the Captain’s plan is to send the black man into a redneck bar to pretend to be a black man working for the IRS and to get everyone all mad… because… well, you know that every white person is a racist that hates black civil servants, right?
So, there you have it, America. Tea Party protesters just “hate the government,” they are racists, they are all white folks, they are angry, and they associate with secretive white supremacist groups that want to over throw the U.S. government.
Bet you didn’t know that when you were indulging your right as a citizen to protest your government that you were a dangerous white supremacist that wants to destroy the country, did you? Bet you didn’t realize that your reverence for the U.S. Constitution was a subversive thing to do, did you? And I’ll also bet that you never imagined that you’d scare the little blue panties off of Captain America!
Nice going Marvel Comics. Thanks for making patriotic Americans into your newest super villains.
** UPDATE ** Marvel Apologizes
Well, it looks like Marvel has admitted that it was a bit of a mistake to specify that they were talking about Tea Party groups in Captain America issue #602 published this month.
As I reported on Sunday, it seemed that Marvel Comics was saying in the story line of its latest Captain America title that Tea Party groups are nothing but white supremacists that are dangerous, and anti-American. Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada discussed my article today and agreed that they made a bit of a mistake and promised to remove the Tea Party references in reprints of the issue. Quesada spoke to Comic Book Resources website offering some further clarification from his perspective.
Quesada said that the comic’s writer, Ed Brubaker, did not intend to pinpoint the “anti-tax protests” in his comic as Tea Partiers.
There was zero discussion to include a group that looked like a Tea Party demonstration. Ed simply wrote in an anti-tax protest into his story to show one of the moods that currently exists in America. There was no thought that it represented a particular group.
And yes, what Ed said is absolutely true, he does shy away from labeling things and did exactly that in this instance. In Ed’s story, there was no connection to the Tea Party movement, that’s a screw up that happened after the fact and exactly what some people are getting upset about.
Where Mr. Houston [sic] is correct is in our accidently identifying in one of the held up signs, the group as being a part of the Tea Party instead of a generic protest group. That’s something that we need to apologize for and own up to, because it’s just one of those stupid mistakes that happened through a series of stupid incidents.
Naturally, Mr. Quesada claimed I was being “irresponsible” with my intimation that Marvel was painting Tea Partiers as racists. Of course, that is a bit hard to accept since the drawing of the protest clearly identified it as associated with the Tea Party movement and The Falcon character said he could not mix with those “angry white folks.”
I think Quesada doth protest too much.
FoxNews also reported that Marvel has decided to remove the reference and reported that Quesada spoke further about the issue.
Ed Brubaker, who wrote the story, told FoxNews.com he did not write the “Tea Bag The Libs Before They Tea Bag YOU!” sign shown in the edition, insisting that the words were added by someone in “lettering or production” just before being shipped to the printer. It will be changed in subsequent editions, he said.
“I don’t know who did it, probably someone who thought it was funny,” Brubaker wrote in an e-mail. “I didn’t think so, personally. That’s the sign being changed to something more generic for the trade reprint, because I and my editor were both shocked to see it.”
Even as writer Ed Brubaker admitted to Fox that he harbored anti-Tea Party movement sentiments, Marvel promised to remove the Tea Party reference in reprints and will avoid it in the rest of this story line.
I want to point out, though, that I never called for any retractions or apologies, myself. I merely reported the incident. If Marvel Comics wants to apologize that is up to them. And they have, at least for “accidentally” identifying the Tea Party movement in their anti-protest screed.

BOYCOTT these liberals/statists and their propaganda…They have turned the culture upside down, but one does not have to participate in their culture with one’s money. I am getting sick and tired of paying taxes and paying to send our soldiers overseas to promote a culture that insists the folks we “liberate” absorb abortion-on-demand, cameras on every street corner, legalized drugs, pornography, gambling, secularism, big government programs, wealth redistribution, and much more that liberals/statists have inplemented here in the United States. I pay the money to these liberals/statists, then they write garbage like this insulting me and Americans who think like me, when it is us who work, earn money, and pay outrageous taxes only to be called obnoxious names and derided as racists by a bunch of white liberals who only see minorities when they hire a maid or give a quarter to a homeless minority on their way to their train that takes the liberal to their gargantuan, economically damaging home on Long Island or New Jersey. It’s a sad day in the United States where liberals turn Captain America into a socialist bigot.

Subject: Goodnight Captain America
It is with great sadness that I find my old hero, Captain America, in a story line designed to denigrate, slander and villify Americans who protest government spending, waste and socialist programs. That’s not Captain American. I don’t know who that is.
I am the mother of three sons, two of whom have been Captain America for Halloween and enjoy comics. I can’t believe Captain America is telling my children my political views are racist and unamerican. Captain America is attacking Americans.
I’m afraid I will have to stop purchasing or supporting any Marvel Comics products as your company has made it very clear you are not interested in Americans who question their government, believe in a small government and who are vocal about fiscal responsibility. There are plenty of other heroes for my children to embrace.
I am sure your company will not miss my capitalism. I know I won’t miss being characterized as a racist zealot.
Very disappointed,

A few years ago, I seem to remember the left telling us that questioning the state was patriotic. Now apparently patriotism is telling the state: “Thank you sir, may i have another?”

Captain Zion pretending to be Captain America while he attacks Americans. Marvel comics releasing propaganda for Captain Zion, whose dual citizenship (and single loyalty) encourages attacks on America by unamerican “Americans”. Too close to real life for me.

Before bashing one of the best written comics today, ask yourself when was the last time you bought a comic book? When was the last time you read a book called CAPTAIN AMERICA and didn’t expect there to be some kind of propaganda of any kind? Who do you know that reads comic book regularly?

[I know many here will complain about this use of the classic definition of the "Left-Right" spectrum due to their ignorance of political science, but I don't care anymore. The truth is the truth.]
Captain America has been portrayed as the Left-wing hero, fighting the Fascists, while Iron Man (notwithstanding this recent movie] has been the Right-wing hero, fighting the Communists. Consider the description in Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America
2000s
Following the events of Avengers Disassembled, again under the employ of S.H.I.E.L.D., Rogers discovers that Bucky is alive, having been saved and deployed by Soviet espionage interests as the Winter Soldier.
Rogers also resumes his on-again, off-again relationship with S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Sharon Carter, who, after his death, believes she is pregnant with Steve Rogers’ child.
In the 2006-2007 “Civil War” crossover, Captain America opposes mandatory federal registration of all super-powered beings, which he sees as an erosion of civil liberties for the superhero community, and leads the Anti-Registration faction and resistance movement. He becomes a fugitive and opposes the heroes of the Pro-Registration group, including his former friend Iron Man. He adopts the alias “Brett Hendrick”, a mall security guard, to avoid government detection.[59] As the War continues, Cap enlists the assistance of several figures with whom he would not choose to ally himself under normal circumstances, such as the Punisher and the Kingpin.[60]
Captain America battles Iron Man during the climactic battle and has victory within his grasp when a group of civilians attempts to restrain him. Rogers realizes that he is endangering the very people he has sworn to protect. He then surrenders to the authorities and orders the anti-Registration forces to stand down. As Rogers is led away in handcuffs, the Punisher retrieves Captain America’s discarded mask.
[edit] Death and aftermath
Main article: The Death of Captain America
The superhero community is shaken by the assassination. The Punisher temporarily adopts a costume similar to that of Captain America, while Winter Soldier and Wolverine seek to avenge Rogers’ deathThe Winter Soldier steals Captain America’s shield, and the Punisher provides him with the mask from Steve Rogers’ uniform.. [62] Captain America is publicly laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, under a monument built in his honor. The body in Arlington is a fake: Tony Stark, accompanied by Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, returns Rogers’ body to the Arctic where Rogers had been found years before. Namor attends the small private ceremony and vows no one will disturb the site.[63]
[edit] Captain America: Reborn
Main article: Captain America: Reborn
Later, Rogers waits patiently in the White House and speaks to President Barack Obama. Obama, feeling the SHRA was “un-American,” gladly grants Rogers a full Presidential pardon, saying that he would only risk his reputation by doing so to Captain America. When Rogers explains to Obama that he may not be Captain America again, the President states that he may need Rogers for something “far greater”.[70]
Thus, such an attitude is typical of the Captain America character.

I’ll give you three guesses what group of people controls Marvel Comics. Here’s a couple of clues, they think they are superior to every other group of people, and the same rules that apply to the rest of us,doesn’t apply to them. That includes murdering people so they can steal their land. They are also the same group that controls our banking and our media and thanks to the many millions they pour into our elections, they also control our government.Must not forget they are the same group that attacked the U.S.S. Liberty in 1967 and then was able to stop an investigation into that attack and has been pretty good at keeping the truth of that attack from the American people for more than 40 years.

I thought Captain America DIED in a recent episode. No doubt he’s been taken over by a body-snatcher or is possessed by a demon.
Marvel Comics is now on my list of anti-American propagandists; previously occupied by Disney (pro-homo) and movies starring George Clooney.

Whooaa…slow down!
If you acutally read the issue, it’s not tea party protesters that Captain America is going after. There’s definately a small group out there who would use those who have legitimate concern & angst, who are protesting peacfully, to justify their own radical agenda. It’s those who would use violence & prey on the fears of peacuful protesters, and then hide behind those people; it this ultra-radical group of people that Captain America is going after.
Captain America has been written from both sides of the political spectrum over the last 70 years. At times he has been very pro-war, & other times staunchly against, depending on who’s writting. In 2008, in the Marvel Universe, during the “Civil War” story line, Captain America was branded a traitor when he OPPOSED the government’s registration act of super-humans! (Sounds like a protest to me!). It was a months long story that led to the death of Captain America (which you may have seen on the news at the time). So it can hardly be said that Captain America (or those that work at Marvel) are against protests.
In the current iteration, the orginal (though not current) Captain America is portrayed as career military who differentiates between killing in war & murder. The magazine is currently more right wing than it has been for most of the last 40 years. The current writer, Ed Burbaker, is the son of a (sorry don’t recall if his father was an officer or not) career military and spent his life growing up on US military bases around the world.
See, it’s easy to have an open & calm discussion.

WOW, this really pizzez me off! So let me educate all the Marvel readers and the rest of the unwitting communist in America. The constitution of the United States of America, basically states that “WE THE PEOPLE” should place LIMITS on government. We should all wake up and attack with words the people that would attack our Republic. Ignorance of our counrty and LAWS only empowers the enemies of America.
Captain America should have the Constitution tattooed on his rear-end since that is where his head is, so he can read it.

Who are the Marvel Comics trying to impress? As I know of, their main readers have been the “Angry White Folks”. I think its time for the readers of Marvel to show them where their bread and butter comes from. Stop buying this BS propaganda for our kids to read. Its all in the plan to make our kids feel like we have no rights except the ones our government allows us to have instead of being born with them.

A sad day for freedom of speech a sad day for America, maybe Captain America should also get a sex change operation and kill oil executives and bankers and where a Che Guevera t-shirt egads………..when entertainment that makes all Americans feel good attacks probably have of the population of America and their views then it pretty much becomes a mouthpiece for lawyers fo the ACLU and not much for America………disgusting and sad.

The only good thing is that Steve Rogers (last time I checked) is dead. The new guy is somebody else. This is not the first sign of leftist politics in comic books (not by a long shot!) but it is alarming that it involves the iconic Captain America.

Anti-Americanism is nothing new to Marvel, the Captain America #602 also used the phrase “bunch of angry white folks…” and “ex-soldiers, just back from the middle east…” were the majority of militia recruits. (Yes, I actually read the comics and noticed others left-wing comments in other Marvel titles.) Quesada and Brubaker knew exactly what they were doing, these comics are purduced months before they are released to the public. Alqueda and radical islam is the nazis of this generation but Marvel refuses to aknowlegde this, could you imagine in 1940 none of the comics critizing the nazis? Another example is in Wolverine – Weapon X #08 there’s a poster of GW Bush with his fingers crossed with words “Trust Me”, this is a year after Bush left the White House and they purposely put this in their comic. For the longest time I blew it off, but after Obama was elected the snipes seemed to elevate as if they didn’t need to hold back their true feelings of America or Americans. This was not a isolated case, this is just the first time it was brought to the public.
