Signs of Intelligent Life Discovered in Washington

Posted by JR Dieckmann On July - 19 - 2008

A funny thing happened on the way to Pelosi’s House the other day. A handful of Democrats and Republican House members took a detour and found themselves in a committee chamber where they formed the “House Energy Working Group.”

This small, bipartisan group of congressmen, led by John Peterson (R-PA) and Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), have chosen to do an end run around Ms. Pelosi and her anti-energy policy legislation known as the “Drill Bill,” which would demand that oil companies drill on land already leased, and prohibit any expansion offshore or in Alaska.

In other words, force drilling where there is little or no oil, and ban drilling where the oil is. Growing public opinion indicates that the blocking of increased domestic oil exploration will be a loosing strategy in November.

Members of the House Energy Working Group, both Republicans and Democrats, understand that the only answer to solving high gas prices involves major increases in domestic oil production. Their objective is to rise above partisan politics and work out real solutions that both sides can agree to. In doing so, they have disallowed any special interests or House leadership to be involved with the group.

We need to get the public educated,” says Peterson. “But when we come out with this proposal, you can be assured there’s no lobbyists, there’s no interest groups on either side of this issue, and there’s no leadership, Republican or Democratic, at the table. And their leadership styles, that wanted to come, we’ve not allowed them to come. This is member driven.”

Rather than “debate” the issues, the atmosphere in the chamber was more of a casual and friendly discussion without the strict protocols that usually apply to congressional committee meetings. Instead of debating their differences, they are discussing them in the interest of developing a better understanding of each other’s views and finding ways to come together on them.

In the two hours of their first meeting, more progress was made than has been made in either house of the Congress since this issue came up. They all have one and the same objective, to solve the problem of high gas prices, achieve energy independence, and to come up with a plan to do whatever is necessary to accomplish that goal.

See the press release after their first meeting at: http://www.house.gov/list/press/pa05_peterson/EWG1.html

The Working Group has now met with a Senate group that has launched a similar effort, creating momentum for a comprehensive national energy plan in both chambers. Abercrombie says the House group is pushing to introduce legislation before the August recess and to have a vote scheduled by September.

Following the initial meeting of a bipartisan House Energy Working Group Monday evening, Representatives Neil Abercrombie (D-Hawaii), and John Peterson (R-Pa.) issued the following statement on the direction of the working group:

“We are very pleased at the level of commitment among the group of 23 Republicans and Democrats from all parts of the country who were able to attend the first meeting and begin working together to develop a real national energy plan.

“It is abundantly clear that the public is tired of the partisan rhetoric coming out of Washington. They want solutions. This working group recognizes that politics as usual will not solve our national energy crisis. A comprehensive approach must include regulatory reform, increased domestic production, conservation and real investment in renewable and alternative energy technologies. These are all part of America’s energy future.

“Upon adjournment of our initial meeting, we have renewed hope that working together – across the aisle – Congress can put differences aside and act in the best interest of the nation, regardless of party affiliation.”

The House Bipartisan Energy Working Group will meet regularly to develop consensus legislation that will be introduced prior to the August recess. Once the group has worked out their plan, the question then arises of how to force their legislative amendment onto the floor of the House over Pelosi’s insistence that oil drilling proposals of this nature would be a “non-starter.” Abercrombie and Peterson have a plan for that too.

The speaker has a record of having a position herself on an issue, said Abercrombie. “And knowing that she does not have the votes for that, but putting it on the floor anyway and then casting her vote, we’re confident that both Nancy Pelosi as speaker of the House and John Boehner as the minority leader of the House will recognize that this is a member-driven series of proposals and that this is, in fact, the people’s house and that the public is demanding that we take action.

And we believe if we put together a series of proposals that that will lead us to energy independence. And to keep us from shifting our wealth out of the country and invest it in the infrastructure that we need in this country, that’s something that we can accomplish.”

This 23 member group recognizes that the real issue at hand is not “energy” in general, as many have tried to make it by proposing more electrical energy, but it is specifically oil and gasoline that are now in crisis and must be addressed in specific terms. In order to do that, compromises have to be made with the proponents of alternative electrical energy, which can also help to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.

The answer to energy independence is not to end our dependence on oil, as many Democrats propose. This is unreasonable and unworkable until the day comes when we have a practical and inexpensive motor fuel to replace it with. The answer to energy independence is to end our dependence on foreign oil. That is the goal of the House Energy Working Group.

At the end of their first session, the group came to a significant agreement. Democrats agreed to expansion of drilling offshore and in Alaska, provided Republicans would agree that all oil extracted from Alaska be sent directly to the lower 40, instead of to Japan and Asia where it currently is sent for refining because of the shorter distance.

Republicans cheerfully agreed to this providing the Democrats could convince Ms. Pelosi to bring the measure to the House floor. The Democrats admitted this was going to be an obstacle, but said they would do their best to persuade her. If she refused, they would then bring it to the floor themselves as a member initiative, and it would be passed by an overwhelming majority of the House in spite of Madam Pelosi.

What this means is that American oil must eventually be made available exclusively for America and we need to get away from participation in the world oil market where we have no control over oil prices. Once we increase domestic American oil supplies by just 12 percent, and keep it in our own country, we can stop using Saudi Arabian oil altogether. Another 10 percent and we can end oil imports from Venezuela. Gradually, we can stop buying OPEC oil on the world oil market completely.

And what do you think will happen the very minute we announce our plan to replace Saudi oil with American oil? Oil and gas prices will drop dramatically almost overnight. The same thing will happen again when we start to replace oil from Venezuela with American oil. By that time, oil will be back down to $50 a barrel on the world oil market, while our domestic oil costs us less than $20 a barrel to pump out of the ground. Gas prices will have dropped to under $2 a gallon.

The House Energy Working Group is the first step toward making this happen. Rep. Neil Abercrombie and Rep. John Peterson have been working together to get this project underway for several years. Now it is becoming a reality. They, and the other 21 members of the Working Group, deserve a “thank you” from all Americans and should be recognized for their patriotism in finding real solution to the problem of high gas prices and answering the challenge of getting past partisan roadblocks in Congress. This is the way Congress is supposed to work.

Modern-Day Conspiracies:A Series of Legislated Smoke Screens

Posted by Dr. Carl S. Parnell On July - 19 - 2008

Governmental conspiracy is a word that creates a negative connotation in most people’s minds. Most people would deny a conspiracy theorist’s opinion that the United States could become a police state or that Christians in America could encounter extreme persecution. Therefore, anyone who purports such conspiracies would be labeled a lunatic, someone who needs to be placed in an insane asylum because he or she has lost their mind. But, the current bills that America’s elected politicians are attempting to legislate into law could very well create a police state and or deny Christians their religious freedoms. Just take the time to scrutinize these new bills that are being proposed in Washington, D.C. and by some state general assemblies. If Americans actually knew the “true” purpose behind the enactment of these bills, they would look at the word “governmental conspiracy”with an entirely different frame of reference.

What is the definition of a modern-day governmental conspiracy? Basically, it is “smoke screen” legislation that Congress gets approved by the President. The sole purpose of this “smoke screen” legislation is to conceal the main reason for the law and to undermine the principles of the United States Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. Another definition for a governmental conspiracy would be to give the minority special civil rights at the expense of denying the majority its basic civil rights.. Therefore, United States Congress, which currently has an approval rating lower the President Bush, is spending too much time working on legislation that does not benefit all Americans. In fact, some elected politicians have pledged their support to agendas that are immoral and to agendas that betray the rights, privileges, and freedoms of average Americans.

The first “smoke screen” legislation centers around the Federal Hate Crime Bill. It has been introduced several times in the last few years. Even though it has not been approved yet, strictly because President Bush threatened to veto it, it will come up again soon. If approved, the Federal Hate Crime Law would basically give extended terms in prison for people who commit a crime and make a gender or sexual orientation bias statement during the criminal offense. It would give extra civil rights to these select groups of people. However, since all Americans are entitled to civil rights, this law is not necessary. This is the reason President Bush threatened to veto it. But, the pro-gay lobby will continue to push their agenda on the American people. Its main goal is to eliminate freedom of speech to anyone who would make negative statements about homosexuality, including statements made by preachers from church pulpits. Therefore, it is extremely important that another Republican president be elected to office in November for this very reason. Based on the Democratic presidential candidate’s campaign platform, there is no way that Barack Obama, if he is elected to be the next president of the United States, would veto this proposed legislation presented to him by a Democratically-controlled Congress.

The second “smoke screen” legislation centers around Senator Barack Obama’s Global Poverty Tax Bill. If President Bush signs this bill into law, the United States would lose even more of its national sovereignty, and it would also be forced to send even more taxpayer’s dollars abroad. The United Nations would be given $845,000,000,000 billion dollars to raise the daily cost of living from $1.00 to $2.00 in poverty-stricken countries around the world. But, can the United Nations be trusted to distribute this money effectively? Remember the Oil for Food program in which Saddam Hussein skimmed $10 billion dollars in profits right under the watchful eyes of the United Nations’ bureaucrats who managed the program. Who’s to say that this kind of incompetence couldn’t happen again. Of course, shouldn’t the United States be responsible for distributing its money abroad?

Eventually, Senator Obama’s Global Poverty Tax under the direction of the United Nations would permit the UN to collect taxes for the use of the environment. These taxes would include: a tax on the rental value of land and natural resources, fees for the commercial use of the oceans, fees for the use of the skies by airplanes, and a tax on the carbon content of fuels. Basically, the United Nations would control the global economy. Of course, as the average American citizen would agree, why is the United States even a member of the United Nations? Also, why is Senator Obama so willing to give the United Nations so much power over the United States? This relationship definitely looks like a modern-day “smoke screen” for perpetuating the Biblically-prophesied One World Government. Needless to say, most people would accredit such a statement to the ideas of a conspiracy theorist. But, in reality, if America’s leaders sell out to the United Nations, they would be guilty of participating in the greatest governmental conspiracy ever to occur in the history of the United States.

The third “smoke screen” legislation centers around the need for the immediate enactment of an Immigration Reform Law. However, apparently President Bush and Congress are in no hurry to come up with a workable solution to the immigration problem, even though most Americans are ready for such action to take place. What then is the problem? The problem is the executive and legislative branches of the American government. It appears that President Bush and Congress are more concerned about the economics of immigration than the protection of America’s borders. Big business continues to lobby for cheap foreign labor in order to boost their profits. Therefore, even though money has been appropriated to make America’s borders safe by putting up hundreds of miles of fences and by increasing the number of border guards, the borders are still being overrun by illegal immigrants coming into the United States, mainly because the fences have not been completed and there are not enough border guards being hired to monitor the U.S./Mexican border.

What then is the major reason for President Bush and Congress not enacting a new Immigration Reform Law? According to Edward Nelson, in a U.S. Border Control article, “I believe the President has a totally different agenda. I believe he is intent on creating a border less, hemispheric, free trade zone from the tip of South America to the North Pole. He is trying to emulate the European model, but unlike Europe, where most of the member nations are all First World economies, the Americas model has the richest and most advanced nation living next door to a banana republic, complete with corrupt politicians and oppressed, impoverished, illiterate people.” (1) Mr. Nelson further stated, “And to accomplish his dream, he, necessarily, is required to hold our borders open, knowing he is putting us at greater risk of terrorist attack; knowing that our health and welfare systems will buckle and collapse under the strain of massive overpopulation; knowing that our environment will suffer terribly; knowing that thousands of Americans will die of Third World disease for which we have no immunity; and knowing that our social fabric, our language, culture and heritage will be torn to shreds.” (1)

What affect would the Free Trade Area of the Americas have on the immigration problem that the United States is having? According to William F. Jasper, in his article “FTAA: Forced to Accept Aliens,” “If the border less, hemispheric, free trade zone (Free Trade Area of the Americas) becomes a reality, the number of legal and illegal immigrants in America could increase five fold, ten fold, or possibly twenty fold. Of course, most Americans do not have a clue about the proposed FTAA. If they did, they would vote all the politicians who supported it out of office, especially since most people would be against it. This is the reason that one of the key provisions of the FTAA is being kept secret. The borders of all the countries that participate in the Free Trade Area of the Americas would be open to any and all immigrants. But, some of the immigrants migrating to America could be terrorists. Therefore, the integration of economics and politics could, in reality, destroy the sovereignty and safety of the greatest nation in the world.” (2) According to Ron Strom of the World Net Daily, “Under the planned FTAA, Americans will gradually lose control over their destiny, their property, their taxes, and they will lose the protection of their rights by the Bill of Rights. The FTAA, like the European Union, will eliminate the enforcement of national borders to foster the free flow of peoples, not just products. National borders will become like our state borders. The immigration problem will be solved, since there will be no more immigration, only migration of populations at will.” (3)

Finally, a very sickening “smoke screen” bill was enacted into law in the state of Colorado. State Senate Bill 200 was passed by the legislature and signed into law by Governor Bill Ritter. Basically, the new bill will permit transgender men and women to use any public restroom that they desire. It would also require Christian businesses to provide their services to transgender men and women, too, even if it would require them to go against their personal religious beliefs . If not, these Christian businesses would have to pay large fines and possibly spend up to one year in jail. Ultimately, this abominable bill is a general attack on morality and a specific attack against Christians and their freedom of religion. It is just another governmental conspiracy to force the pro-gay rights’ agenda on American citizens, specifically the citizens of Colorado. However, some of these same type activities are taking place in Maryland and New Mexico. Therefore, if you do not want these godless situations to take place in your state, now is the time to investigate what your state legislature might be plotting to do to the citizens of your state. In fact, could the new laws in your state actually be worse than the outcome of Senate Bill 200 in Colorado? God forbid that this type of legislation would be able to pass in any other state.

In conclusion, more and more politicians are promoting the idea of “change” in the United States. But, if these politicians are successful with changing the status quo in America, will this new change benefit all Americans or will it benefit just a few select groups? Also, will this new change brought about by “smoke screen” legislation lead the United States down a cultural and political road of conservatism and morality or down a cultural and political road of liberalism and immorality? Ultimately, what can the average American citizen do to insure that America travels down the cultural and political road of conservatism and morality? First, the average American citizen should vote only for candidates that truly have the interest of all Americans at heart, not just the special interest groups. Second, the average American citizen should regularly check the upcoming bills that are coming up for vote in Congress. Third, the average American citizen should communicate with other citizens via the Internet when he or she recognizes that “smoke screen” legislation is about to be voted on in Congress. Finally, the average American citizen should keep in contact with his or her Senator or Congressman on a regular basis. Let them know that the eyes of the people who put them in office are watching how they vote on bills that may have concealed meanings, in other words, bills that would secretly eliminate many of the freedoms that Americans cherish.

Gas Prices Cause Louisiana Women to Resort to ‘Pole Dancing’?

Posted by Warner Todd Huston On July - 19 - 2008

WAFB TV Channel 9, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana pulled out all the stops for this ridiculous report claiming that “some women” in the Pelican State are resorting to working in strip clubs because gasoline is so expensive. To prove it, WAFB found one woman that said so. I’d say that clinches this as “fact,” then, wouldn’t you?

In typical sensationalistic news fashion, WAFB TV assumes that because gas is more expensive, women across the state are throwing away their morals to work as strippers.

During these tough economic times, many people are struggling to make ends meet. The city’s housing market is in a slump, gas and food prices are rising, and some say it’s either sink or swim. Now, some women are going to great lengths to make some extra cash right in Baton Rouge.

Really? “Great lengths,” eh? So, to believe this report we have to assume that strip clubs are doing well enough that a great influx of new employees is possible. But here is the question: if the economy is so bad, how is it that strip clubs are going so strong? That doesn’t make much sense, WAFB.

Still, the sensationalism continues.

It’s a fantasy, an escape for some attempting to close off the outside world. However, for the women inside who are barely clothed and strapped into high heels, exotic dancing can be a way to survive. “All of my bills were getting to be too much, especially when gas started going up,” says one woman, who’ll be referred to as Amber throughout the report to protect her identity.

Absurdly, WAFB uses the “some women” line twice.

With the average price of gasoline in these parts at an all-time high of $4.00 per gallon, and food costs rising, some women are entering the world of adult entertainment. This world of quick cash is nothing new to Amber. She stripped for three years in local clubs, but took a break after finding out she was pregnant. She then got back into the profession shortly after gas prices started rising and feeding her child got difficult. “Honestly, there are some days where I just don’t eat because I can’t afford to go buy food. Especially when it comes to diapers or milk, oh my God.”

Then the TV reports hits even more salacious material by talking about the “rapes” that occur in these strip clubs, the drug abuse, etc. WAFB pulls out all the stops for this piece.

The ending is interesting, too.

Amber says she is currently in school. She says she knows quite a few women who have recently turned to exotic dancing in order to either pay their bills, get through school, or take care of their children.

Say, WAFB, did you ever think to wonder exactly why our poor little Miss Amber knows so many women who have turned to exotic dancing to make a living? Might it be that it’s because these are the sorts of people she hangs around with? I mean if one hangs around with feminists, then all one will know is feminists. If one hangs around a bowling alley, one will get to know an awful lot of bowlers. And, did anyone stop to wonder where Mr. Amber was? And did anyone realize that one of the reasons that Miss Amber is having such a bad time of it is because there isn’t a Mr. Amber to help her?

Taking Amber’s experiences and exploding them into some sort of state wide trend is amazing. But that is what WAFB certainly tried to do. Welcome to sensationalist TV. It’s the Jerry Springer news in Louisiana.

PA Top Cop Says Tasers Protect Public, Officers

Posted by Jim Kouri On July - 19 - 2008

by Jim Kouri

(This article is based on a report submitted to the National Association of Chiefs of Police. The writer is the organization’s public information officer.)

The recent deployment of Tasers to State Police troopers for use in confrontational situations is helping to ensure the safety of the public and officers themselves, Commissioner Jeffrey B. Miller said yesterday.

“Tasers already have proven to be highly effective, non-lethal weapons for subduing individuals threatening harm to themselves or others,” Miller said during a news conference at the State Police Academy in Hershey, PA.

“They have been used with great success to control people who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol; suffering from mental health issues; or who simply are intent on harming themselves, our officers or others.

“In some of these cases, there is no doubt our troopers would have been required to grapple with the individuals, strike them with their batons, or fire their service weapons to protect themselves or others. The Taser provides an excellent option to the use of deadly force.”

Miller said Tasers have been used in a wide variety of circumstances, including the following situations:

    — Two troopers in Clearfield County responded to a report of an intoxicated man arguing with his elderly parents. The troopers found the subject armed with a rifle, which he pointed at them. One of the troopers fired his Taser and the man was taken into custody.

    — Troopers in Cumberland County encountered a man armed with a knife who was threatening suicide. When the man refused commands to drop the knife, a trooper fired his Taser and the officers were able to disarm the
subject.

    — Adult probation officers in Franklin County called State Police seeking assistance with a suspect who had wrestled with them and fled on foot. A trooper found the man, who was carrying a glass bottle. When the
man ignored the trooper’s commands and tried to run away, the trooper used his Taser and took the suspect into custody.

Taser is the brand name of an electronic immobilization device, or EID, that fires two darts attached to wires. The device delivers a 50,000-volt charge, incapacitating an individual long enough for troopers to take the person into custody without causing permanent harm to the individual.

Miller said State Police conducted a two-year study of the possible use of EIDs and initiated a pilot program in 2006 by providing Tasers to 18 officers statewide.

Based on results of that program, Miller said, State Police this year began training and equipping 3,000 troopers with Taser X26 model devices made by Taser International Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz. The Tasers, which cost $899 per unit, were purchased primarily with asset forfeiture funds.

Miller said troopers used their Tasers 144 times during the first six months of this year.

“The response from troopers in the field has been completely positive,” Miller said.

“One of the key reasons is that using Tasers means it’s much less likely that an officer will become involved in a physical confrontation that could result in injuries to the suspect or the officer.”

Disgruntled Republicans and conservatives…are you disgusted with John McCain as the Republican nominee? Democrats, are you annoyed and tired of Barack Obama?A person who stands his ground is one who is solid…unwavering.  America must allow for that sort of person to be nominated for this nation’s top job. And that person, currently, is not John McCain or Barack Obama. Both candidates for president are too busy bowing to whatever crowd stands before them and both will waver in terms of what they truly believe to garner votes.

But a group of patriots have had enough of the wavering.  Patriots Revolt, a website dedicated to getting the attention of politicians in Washington, is in full swing.  The focus is mainly on John McCain to truly stand up for conservative principles, but the overall message is directed to Washington as a whole…that Washington MUST listen to the people!

Many people are logging on to Patriots Revolt to find that no longer will “politics as usual” be acceptable.

Colonel Harry Riley, US Army Ret. had a hand in putting together the Patriots Revolt website. He says that from the response he’s gotten, people want to see their politicians ”stand up for just the masses. Not for special interests.”

“This has struck a chord…so many people are throwing up their hands… they don’t like any of the presidential candidates,” he continued.

In his part to put together Patriots Revolt, he realized, ”If our founding fathers capitulated …we wouldn’t have America.

As politicians continue about their business, making campaign stop after campaign stop, all Americans get are sound bytes and will not likely be able to sound off to the candidates (chosen by the media) about what they want to see in a president.

Colonel Riley mentioned, “The bulk of America isn’t being heard. We are addicted to the parties in control.”

The American people are just so used to the two major parties setting forth what they think should be the rule of the day and feedback from the public is not paramount to the Republican or Democrat party.

The politicians are “so hung up on their own personal agendas and America is lost in the shuffle,” Riley said.

Patriots Revolt addresses concerns of all Americans who wish to hold to traditional roots. Sadly, the Republican Party, which held true to those conservative values and traditions, has sold out to elitism and globalism.

“The Republican Party has abandoned Republican principles… forgotten about their roots,” Col. Riley adds.  Riley goes further to explain that regardless of party, Americans can find a home at Patriots Revolt

Col. Riley stressed, “This is not about party name, it’s about founding principles and the moral rudder of America…we are taking a stand.”

Emphasizing the need to see the will of the people hold government accountable for their actions, Riley said, “It takes a measure of backbone, courage, guts… however one describes bucking the system, and charting an ‘uprising’ in America to stop the ‘criminal rape of our citizens.’”

***

For far too long, the status quo has been accepted and many patriotic Americans have not had appropriate means to stand up and fight back.

For the future of our country, it is worth it to employ the same gusto and fortitude our forefathers exhibited to get things done.

For the Democrat, Republican, or Independent, etc. who is dissatisfied with the choices for president (better yet, if you are dissatisfied with the way the choices were picked) Patriots Revolt needs to hear from you.

It’s time to rock the boat.
