Jesse Jackson Has No Clothes

Posted by Doug Patton On July - 13 - 2008

In 1837, Danish poet and author Hans Christian Andersen published what would become one of his most beloved tales. “The Emperor’s New Clothes” told the story of a vain monarch who hires two con men to make him a new suit of clothes. The tailors tell the king that the material they are using has the quality of being invisible to any man who is unfit for his office or who is “unpardonably stupid.” When his suit of clothes is finished, and the emperor parades through town for his subjects to see what his tailors have made for him, only one little child states the obvious: “But he has nothing on at all!”

I thought of Andersen’s story, and the honest reaction of the innocent child, when I heard about the latest antics of Jesse Jackson. In case you missed it, Jackson was set to appear on a Fox News show when he whispered to another guest (into a “hot” microphone), “Barack been talkin’ down to black people with this faith based…” He then proceeded to express the desire to surgically turn the Democratic presidential candidate into a eunuch. All because Barack Obama recently told a crowd of African-Americans that black men needed to take responsibility for their actions and raise the children they father. Could it be that one struck a little too close to home for the “reverend”?

Obviously, Jackson disapproved of Obama’s statement. Apparently, telling men to take responsibility for their actions is “talking down to black people.” It seems that in his speech Obama forgot the victim’s mantra about how whitey is to blame for every ill in the black community and only government can fix it. (I have doubt that Obama believes these things; he just neglected to mention them.)

Jesse Jackson’s entire race-baiting “career” has been one scam after another. This is the guy who staged the photos of himself holding the dying Martin Luther King, Jr., in his arms.

This is the man who used to call abortion a tool of genocide against black people — even comparing it to slavery — but who long ago jettisoned his pro-life views in favor of the politically correct liberal party line on the issue.

This is the man who has cozied up to Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Mohammar Quaddafi and any number of other Arab thugs — all in the name of “peace.”

This is the man who for the last four decades has shaken down corporate America in the name of racism, as chronicled in Kenneth Timmerman’s 2004 book, “Shakedown: Exposing the real Jesse Jackson.” As Timmerman points out, Jackson claims to have an annual salary of one dollar, but his lavish lifestyle includes limousines, three mansions, big bank accounts, first class travel, private schools and the best universities for his children.

Having run for president in 1984 and 1988, Jesse Jackson is green with envy that this upstart freshman senator from his own home town of Chicago seemingly has breezed to the Democratic presidential nomination this year. Furthermore, as I have noted in previous columns, what greater threat could there be to his empire of victimization than to have a black man elected to the presidency? How does a professional “civil rights leader” shake money out of the corporate trees when a person of color is living in the White House? They are more likely to tell him to go get a real job than to write him a check under those circumstances.

Jackson’s latest whispered tirade against Obama is proof of his pettiness and his narcissism. The realities of his own out-of-wedlock child, combined with a massive sense of entitlement, have given this man an ego that is out of control. Rarely has so little talent been rewarded with so much attention.

As the out-of-touch members of the mainstream media fall all over themselves making excuses for the latest boorish behavior of their favorite race pimp, most Americans are not surprised by it. After all, we have known for forty years that Jesse Jackson has no clothes.

Media Celebrates Successful U.S. Military Recruitment Stats? Not Really!

Posted by Warner Todd Huston On July - 13 - 2008

The Armed Forces Press Service issued a press release on Thursday morning, July 10, in celebration of the fact that the U.S. military has had 13 consecutive months of meeting and/or exceeding recruitment goals. Sadly, the media stayed sullenly quite all day, taking no notice of the success of our military on OR off the field.

Regardless of the fact that the media ignored the good news, there is good news, indeed.

The June recruiting and retention figures reflect recruiters’ hard work and young people’s continued willingness to step up and serve, Lainez said. The Army signed up 9,365 new soldiers in June, 101 percent of its 9,250-soldier goal. The Marine Corps recruited 4,531 Marines, topping its monthly goal of 3,934 recruits by 15 percent. The Navy met its goal of 4,209 sailors, and the Air Force brought in 2,203 airmen, six recruits over its June goal.

The numbers for the reserves and National Guard were also strong and retention also rolled on a pace.

Of course, when the media does bother to report on military recruitment being up they still have to focus on the supposed “unpopularity” of the war even as they report that the military seems to have little trouble making their recruitment goals.

So what about that “unpopular war,” anyway? Isn’t it affecting the armed services?

“There were concerns about how today’s fight would affect retention, and yet, retention has been as strong as any period in our history,” he (Bill Carr, deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel and policy) said on the all-volunteer force’s 35th anniversary. “Volunteers want to serve; their performance is strong, their behaviors are strong, and their discipline is high.”

So, the big question is: where are the media on this?

Well, the answer would be that the media are in the same place on reporting healthy recruiting goals being easily met by the U.S. military as they are reporting on the incredible successes seen in Iraq. Consistently silent.

The media are obviously so out to discredit the U.S. military that they refuse to even report the news.

Conservative talk show host superstar and attorney Mark Levin’s Landmark Legal Foundation, the organization that uncovered massive abuse of federal tax, election and labor laws by the nation’s largest teacher’s union, has filed a complaint with the Internal Revenue Service, alleging flagrant and widespread violations of the Internal Revenue Code by the Colorado Education Association (CEA) and the Poudre, Colorado Education Association (PEA).

Landmark’s complaint details how the CEA and the PEA employed union staff members, including PEA’s president and office manager, for several weeks to work full time as de facto campaign managers for the 2004 candidacy of Democrat Bob Bacon for the Colorado State Senate.

The costs associated with the unions’ expenditures on behalf of the campaign (staff salaries and benefits, travel expenses, etc.) are all required by the IRC to be reported on the unions’ federal tax returns as in-kind political contributions. Neither the CEA nor the PEA reported any political spending for the 2004 tax year.

“The leaders of the CEA and the PEA appear to have turned their unions over lock, stock and barrel to the Bob Bacon for Senate campaign,”explained Landmark President Mark R. Levin.

“Hundreds of man-hours and tens of thousands in tax-exempt, teachers’ dues were used for no other purpose than to elect a candidate who would do the unions’ bidding in the state Senate,” said the former Justice Department chief of staff and top-rated radio talk host.

Landmark’s complaint is the latest in the organization’s National Education Association (NEA) Accountability Project, an effort that has documented millions of dollars in unreported political expenditures by the national teachers’ union and its state and local affiliates.

Earlier complaints by Landmark to the IRS resulted in a full field audit of the NEA, an investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor, a complete overhaul of reporting requirements for large unions by the Department of Labor, as well as the uncovering of several significant violations of federal and state law by NEA affiliates around the country.

“Colorado’s teachers have a right to know what their leaders are doing when they involve their unions in politics,” Levin said.

“And they have a right to know that their dues are not being used to do an end-around the law to advance a political agenda. Moreover, the IRS needs to determine whether the CEA is doing the same thing with other local affiliates elsewhere in the state.”

Founded in 1976, Landmark Legal Foundation is one of the nation’s oldest conservative public interest law firms. The Foundation has offices in Kansas City, MO and Leesburg, VA.
