Sex, Lies, and Datatapes of the Partner Abuse Industry

Posted by Carey Roberts On June - 17 - 2008

The domestic violence industry is reeling from a recent series of high-profile scandals, leaving abuse workers to wonder how things could have possibly gone so wrong.

First the Sex.

Recently a woman described her stay at an abuse shelter. In shocking detail, she recounts how threats and bullying had become commonplace among the shelter residents. Once a resident punched her forearm, screaming at her, “bitch!” One night another woman assaulted her, injuring her back and forcing her to seek medical attention.

The woman also recounted lesbian advances by a shelter employee. “If you become her girlfriend, you will be treated very good, I was 100% sure,” the woman sheepishly explains. On another occasion she was referred to a local lesbian attorney whose fetching assistant was “dressed like she was in a nightclub.” This is a video that has to be seen to be believed: www.vimeo.com/790290 .

Sexual harassment of women in abuse facilities  is not uncommon. I have personally spoken with other women who were pressured by shelter workers to engage in lesbian sexual activity in return for better accommodations and special perks.

Now for the Lies.

Two weeks ago a Maryland-based think tank called RADAR put out a report detailing numerous half-truths and falsehoods from the American Bar Association. The distortions are found in a document called “10 Myths about Custody and Domestic Violence and How to Counter Them.”

A few of the claims are eyebrow-raisers, like the ABA’s pronouncement that children who witness domestic violence are more likely to get lung disease! That’s right doc, if your patient can’t breathe, it’s probably because he once witnessed abuse.

And some statements are preposterous, like the assertion that abusive parents win child custody 70% of the time. So if you want to get custody of your kids, just tell the judge you abused them!

That’s just for starters – RADAR compared the ABA’s 19 claims to the actual research and found only two of the 19 are true: www.mediaradar.org/docs/RADARreport-Myths-of-ABA-Commission-on-DV-Summary.pdf . Score one for the tin-foil hat crowd!

Ready for the Datatapes?

Family researchers Murray Straus and Katreena Scott recently released a report that documents how the domestic violence industry routinely hoodwinks the American public. “Gender Symmetry in Partner Violence” exposes all the tricks: falsifying research findings, blocking funding, and harassing researchers who cross the feminist party line: http://pubpages.unh.edu/~mas2/V70%20version%20N3.pdf .

In one case professor Suzanne Steinmetz released a study that proved males and females are equally likely to perpetrate abuse: “Anger over this resulted in a bomb threat at her daughter’s wedding.”

Imagine a cabal of women threatening to blow up a white-dress bride on her wedding day – and in the name of stopping family violence!

Like a cancer that ravishes healthy cells, the corruption of the domestic violence industry is spreading to government agencies, as well.

In West Virginia, any domestic violence program that wants to receive government funding must have one-third of its staff certified by the state’s Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a group that rejects on ideological grounds the suggestion that men can ever be abuse victims.

So earlier this month a group called Men and Women Against Discrimination filed a discrimination lawsuit, charging the state “has unlawfully delegated the appropriation of public funds into the hands of a private entity, i.e., the West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence.”

False allegations have become endemic, as well. Last month former Olympic ice skater Oksana Grishuk accused James R. Halstead, a wealthy California investor, of dropping a date rape drug into her drink. Grishuk had won two gold medals for Russia in the 1990s.

The two had been involved in a lengthy romantic relationship. But when Halstead refused Grishuk’s request to tie the knot, she furtively slipped the pills in her drink.

The Orange County judge dismissed the case last Monday after it was reported she had demanded of her ex-boyfriend, “Can’t you find me a man with money who could take care of me?”

Lesbian advances, propaganda-like claims, fabrication of research, sex discrimination, and false allegations. All in a day’s work for the good ladies of the domestic violence industry.

Gore-ging on Energy, 1 Year Later Gore’s Home Energy Use Climbs 10%

Posted by Warner Todd Huston On June - 17 - 2008

-By Warner Todd Huston

In February of 2007 a small group named the Tennessee Center for Policy Research published an interesting little story that made Al Gore, the king of global warming alarmism, look a tad foolish. The report that TCPR sent out showed that Al Gore’s own home was an energy hog. The TCPR report revealed that Al Gore’s Tennessee mansion used more energy each month than the average American household uses in an entire year. In a response to this report, Gore claimed that he was diligently working to make his home more green, but now it looks like Gore is being gored again because a year down the line his energy use hasn’t gone down. It hasn’t even stayed level. It actually increased by 10%. How will the media handle this bloated increase despite Gore’s claims of trying to improve?

In 2007, to a sensational reception the TCPR noted that the Gore family burned through energy at an amazing rate saying, “Last August alone, Gore burned through 22,619 kWh — guzzling more than twice the electricity in one month than an average American family uses in an entire year. As a result of his energy consumption, Gore’s average monthly electric bill topped $1,359.”

Not long after, Gore answered his critics on the website of Think Progress, an extreme website run by the Center for American Progress and funded by left-winger George Soros.

Vice President Gore’s office told ThinkProgress:

1) Gore’s family has taken numerous steps to reduce the carbon footprint of their private residence, including signing up for 100 percent green power through Green Power Switch, installing solar panels, and using compact fluorescent bulbs and other energy saving technology.

2) Gore has had a consistent position of purchasing carbon offsets to offset the family’s carbon footprint — a concept the right-wing fails to understand. Gore’s office explains:

What Mr. Gore has asked is that every family calculate their carbon footprint and try to reduce it as much as possible. Once they have done so, he then advocates that they purchase offsets, as the Gore’s do, to bring their footprint down to zero.

The most telling aspect of the 2007 report about Gore’s energy use is that he never disputed the facts. He admitted that he used that much energy, but claimed that he was trying to bring that usage down.

Well, we have waited a year to see the evidence of the Gore family’s efforts to bring that carbon footprint down to zero. And, with a follow up report, the TCPR decided to look into Al Gore’s usage of energy to see how well he did in improving his high energy use.

Unfortunately for the king of global warming, he didn’t do so well.

The new report shows Gore actually increased his energy use despite all the supposed efforts to make that ol’ carbon footprint equal “zero.”

In the year since Al Gore took steps to make his home more energy-efficient, the former Vice President’s home energy use surged more than 10%, according to the Tennessee Center for Policy Research.

In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month.

Since taking steps to make his home more environmentally-friendly last June, Gore devours an average of 17,768 kWh per month –1,638 kWh more energy per month than before the renovations – at a cost of $16,533. By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Ooopsie.

So, from the man telling you to reverse your standard of living to the dark ages, the Gore household continues to gobble up more and more energy every month than you would in a year.

As TCPR says, actions speak louder than words. I’d dare say with all the hot air emanating from the expanding girth of the former VP about global warming, with all the many private jet flights across the world, and with his constant scolding of the rest of us to stop using so much energy, this news once again makes Gore look the hypocrite.

Last time this news was a Drudge bombshell. The MSM reluctantly picked up on it after it became the talk of the blogs and talk radio. Will this newest report revealing Gore’s continued hypocrisy also become big news, even if only briefly?

I guess, we’ll see.

Leading Internet Evangelist Invites Barack Obama to Explain his Faith

Posted by Rev. Michael Bresciani On June - 17 - 2008

Evangelist Bill Keller of LivePrayer a dot com ministry that has 2.4 million daily subscribers to Keller’s messages is leaving the seat open for Sen. Obama to answer questions about his Christian faith. Will he accept the invitation?

The call is simple and cordial but the questions are biting and will not be easy to answer. Bill Keller has issued the public invitation by saying “I am sending a formal invitation to Senator Obama to sit down with me on camera and deal with these serious questions regarding what he believes about his Christian faith. He has been eager to talk about his faith to the media and has appeared in many televised programs specifically about what he believes. Sadly, those who have interviewed him and moderated these special programs on faith, have either not had the understanding or desire to ask Senator Obama the critical questions to determine what this man really believes regarding the foundational beliefs of Christianity.”

Obama’s silver tongued retorts are easy for him when talking to the general public but Bill Keller’s inquiries will be based on a biblically conservative view of the faith and the tenants of the bible alone. Keller explains that for millions of conservative Christians in America the questions are foremost in their minds. Picking up a little here and there in news broadcast and from pundits would not be near as useful as a one on one Q&A on theological issues that are important to many Americans.

Keller says “”Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.” James 4:4” and it is because of this fundamental teaching of the bible that Keller adds “Senator Obama has been very up front during the campaign about his Christian faith. Only God can judge his heart if indeed he has accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, but based on his public statements about his faith as well as his actions, it is critical to explore what he believes and see if this man really is a Christian as he claims. What does Senator Obama believe regarding the basic tenets of the Christian faith? What does he believe about salvation?

Bill Keller is well known for his confrontations with Mitt Romney, and his open challenges to Osama Bin Laden on You Tube. His approach is a no holds barred dialog that allows any answer but if it is not theologically sound Bill will know it in a New York minute. Keller explains “Senator Obama is part of this new and emerging group of Christians I have called the “religious left.” The “religious left” is made up of people who identify themselves as Christians and hold strong religious beliefs as well as sharing left-wing ideals. Obviously, this group has risen up in opposition to those who have been tagged the “religious right” or the “Christian right.” Those in the “religious left” oppose God on issues like abortion and gay marriage, but are heavily involved in the ecumenical movement, environmental issues, opposing war for any reason, world hunger, and social issues like healthcare, welfare, and education.”

Keller’s talking points and outline is a list of questions that uncounted numbers of Americans would love to hear answered. Bill wants clarification on three spiritual issues that have entered into the political rhetoric of the media lately more than any other time in our history. What better time than now for Senator Obama to explain his views.

The three issues Bill says start with “His position on abortion. His entire political career he has not just voted to uphold the slaughter of innocent babies, but he has been a defender of those rights. He has been such a staunch defender of this practice of legalized infanticide that he was endorsed by NARAL, one of the world’s leading baby killing organizations. God calls abortion murder and no Christian in good conscience can defend or support murdering innocent babies.

Keller’s second question would be “His position on the sin of homosexuality. Again, his entire political career Senator Obama has been a staunch ally and supporter of the homosexual community. He is in favor of redefining God’s Holy Institution of Marriage to include men marrying men and women marrying women, he is in favor of redefining God’s plan for the family to include adoption by same sex couples, and he is in favor of special rights for people who choose to engage in deviant sexual relationships. God calls homosexuality an abomination and the bible defines this act as a sin from the Old Testament through the New Testament.” Keller’s question is simple how can someone who adheres to the words of Christ and his apostles ignore their words so openly and still claim to be a Christian?

Finally says Keller “His position on Israel. Senator Obama is in favor of giving away part of the land that God himself gave to the children of Israel to their enemies, whose stated goal and desire is to kill every Jew and wipe them off the face of the earth. God’s promise to Abraham found in Genesis 12:3 is still in effect. It reads, “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” “No man has the right to give away the land God himself gave to Israel” says Bill.

Keller is aware as are a lot of people in this day that a new kind of eclectic Christianity is emerging where the adherents are allowed to pick and choose what they want in the religion like a giant spiritual buffet. This view is as far from the teachings of the New Testament as east is from west. Keller’s invitation would satisfy the questions of millions. Will Mr. Obama accept the challenge?

Bill is not asking anything that unusual of Sen. Obama in fact even Christ’s apostles asked the same thing of him in John 7:4. “For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, show thyself to the world.”

The Anti-Energy Policy, How Stupid Is That?

Posted by JR Dieckmann On June - 17 - 2008

The Democrat anti-oil agenda has to backfire on them sooner or later. The people hardest hit by high gas prices are the very same people the Democrats pretend to represent and support - the poor and lower working class, those who tend to vote Democrat.

The obstacle before us today is to defeat the lies being told by Democrats that blame high oil prices on the Bush Administration and Republicans. The people who are hardest hit by high gas prices have to be made to understand exactly whose policies are causing them to park their cars and take a bus to work. They won’t learn it from the liberal media.

This week in Congress, both houses have been debating the energy bill. The Democrats insist on putting all money and resources into alternative energy development. The Republicans have been willing to go along with the Dems’ plan to invest in alternative energy, but also want to increase domestic oil production to bring down gas prices. The Democrats arrogantly continue to “just say no.“ As a result, the Republican minority will not allow the bills to come to a vote by using their power of filibuster. Democrats are now calling Republicans “the party of no.”

But who is it really that continues to say “no?” The Left wants windmills; the Right says, “ok.” The Left wants solar; the Right says, “ok.” The Left wants ethanol; the Right says, “ok.” The Right wants oil while the alternatives are being developed, the Left says, “no, no, and no.”

The development of alternative energy sources is going to be mighty expensive without the use of affordable oil energy to power research, development, and construction. Perhaps the Republicans should agree to the terms of the Democrats with the condition that no petroleum products be used in the development of their alternative energy products. Why shouldn’t they be subject to the same restrictions that they want to place on the rest of us? If they want to pioneer an era without oil, let them start today and see how far they can get.

Senate Democrats are not playing by the rules. They control the agenda, they control the amendments, and they will not allow any amendments from Republican members to be heard. Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell had this to say on Thursday:

“Mr. President, the speech of my good friend, the majority leader, sounds eerily similar to the one he made yesterday morning at exactly the same time, so I won’t prolong this back and forth other than to say it is an interesting campaign speech, but the issue before us is, if we do want to legislate, we know how we have to legislate in the Senate. We had the same discussion yesterday morning. The way you don’t legislate in the Senate is refuse to let the minority offer amendments.

I know this is inside baseball to most observers who don’t follow every nuance of what we do in the Senate, but the way you legislate in the Senate is you call up a bill and you have a free amendment process and then you pass it.

The “campaign speech” that McConnell referred to was the opening speech by Harry Reid on Wednesday in which he repeatedly called McConnell a liar.

“Mr. President, people who are listening to and watching this discussion must go back and understand George Orwell set forth a principle in his book ‘1984’ that has become known as Orwellian. What that means is what the person is saying, they mean the direct opposite… Mr. President, first of all, my friend’s statement about the L.A. Times is as Orwellian as his statement about wanting to cast votes. Understand, everybody, that he means just the opposite… But assuming that we understand the Orwellian-speak from the Republican side, let me read a little more from the same editorial he talked about… So, Mr. President, again, everything we have heard this morning, as I have indicated, everything we have heard from the minority is just the opposite factually.”

McConnell ended his speech with this:

“For years, Democrats have blocked every effort to increase the production of American energy and help bring gas prices down. They have said no to States that want to allow for deep sea exploration off their shores. They have blocked the use of oil shale. They have blocked a dozen efforts to open a small portion of ANWR for environmentally sensitive exploration, which–if it had not been vetoed 13 years ago–would be providing a million barrels of oil a day to American consumers right now.”

I wish I could include these Senate opening speeches from both Wednesday and Thursday of this week in this article, but of course, I can’t. I do urge and encourage you to read them and decide for yourself who is serving the American people and who is serving only their special interests and political agendas. The lies and distortions coming out of the mouth of the Senate Majority Leader are just astounding and do not represent the best interests of the American people.

Opening speeches for Wednesday can be read at: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?r110:S11JN8-0008:.
Thursday’s opening speeches are at:
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?r110:S12JN8-0010:

The Democrats have been reiterating their point that the oil companies already have land leases for drilling that they are just sitting on and not using, therefore they don’t need additional drilling offshore, in ANWR, or anywhere else. The truth is that oil companies are not drilling in those areas because they have found that there is no oil there. Over 50% of exploration wells drilled come up dry. Now they have more advanced equipment that can examine the ground to determine if any oil exists there without drilling a single hole.

Of the approved oil exploration sites that do have oil, many are being blocked from exploiting by environmental extremists law suits that have been holding up drilling for years. If Democrats in Congress don’t block oil exploration, then the environmentalist do. Is there any doubt that Democrats have an agenda to destroy the oil companies and divert that money into the environmentalist’s alternative energy causes? It wouldn’t be so bad if they would wait until alternative energy sources are developed and ready to substitute for petroleum energy, but that day is still decades away.

In the meantime, the Left wants to starve the country of energy to make their false point of how badly America needs their alternative energy sources. They can only do this as long as they can continue to convince their voters that high gas and energy prices are the fault of Bush and the oil companies’ “obscene profits.” They have been telling, repeatedly, that gas prices have tripled since Bush took office in their attempts to blame it all on Bush. They neglect to mention how much gas prices have gone up just since Democrats took control of Congress.

These are the facts: During the Bush Administration and Republican Congress (2001 to 2007), gas at the pump went from $1.44 a gallon to $2.10 a gallon - a 66c increase over 6 years. During the Pelosi-Reid Democrat Congress, gas at the pump went from $2.10 a gallon to nearly $5.00 a gallon today - a $2.90 increase in just a year and a half. But of course, somehow this is all Bush’s fault.

But the Left has a backup plan for denying America the oil it needs. Suppose they were forced to agree to expand oil exploration and increase our domestic oil supplies. What are the oil companies going to do with that additional oil, once they pump it out of the ground? You can’t process it into gasoline without refineries, and existing refineries are already running at full capacity.

To process additional oil, we need new refineries and the Democrat controlled Congress won’t give approval to build them. They will continue to block refinery permits in the same way they are blocking nuclear power plant permits while “the greens“ are doing their part in the courts. Who ever said it’s a free market and a free enterprise system? The oil companies know better. They know they can’t do a thing without government approval, and asking for approval from government Democrats for increased gas production is like asking Iran to halt it’s nuclear program.

How can they call themselves “progressives” when they want to starve the country of energy and take it back to the days of horse buggies and bicycles? As they see it, after a couple of decades of minimal energy supplies for the nation, stupid Americans will welcome the Democrats’ alternative energy. The propaganda from the left in Congress and the media will assure that the decades of energy drought was caused by Republicans whose voices will never again be heard from. Karl Marx will be revived in the government under a different name that may sound something like “Barack Hussein Obama.”

Rep. Lynn Westmoreland has prepared, and is circulating, a petition for all members of the House to sign which simply states in terms even Democrats can understand: “I pledge to vote for increasing domestic oil supplies to reduce the price of gas.” Soon, the petition will be released to the public. The American people will see exactly who is trying to do something to bring down the price of gas, and who is not.

Meanwhile, the tragic flooding in the Midwest has destroyed most the year’s corn crop, much of which was intended for ethanol production. 6 ethanol plants have shut down as there will be no corn to process. As the cycle goes, there will, in coming years, be Midwest droughts as well. Is it really wise to stake our nation’s fuel supply on something as undependable as an annual corn crop when we have billions of barrels of ready fuel underground just waiting to be pumped out?

Not only will these conditions in the Midwest effect our food supplies and prices, but now we want to risk our fuel prices and supplies on them as well? This is liberal insanity on display for all to see. It makes as much sense as a man dying of thirst on the desert, finding a water well, but deciding to wait for rain instead of working the crank and quenching his thirst.

There is one thing that Republicans and Democrats are agreed on: cutting our dependence on foreign oil. Their methods of achieving this are quite different, however. The Republican solution is quite simple, doable, and would have almost immediate effects on gas prices - increase domestic oil and gas production.

The Democrat solution is anything but simple and doable and will have no effect on gas prices in the foreseeable future - ration oil and replace it with alternative energy sources while driving the American oil companies out of business. This approach is based on two things - the Left’s hatred for the Bush family, and their loyalty to environmental extremists. All the windmills and solar panels in the world aren’t going to power our cars, busses, trains, trucks, ships, and aircraft.

Liberals see a future based solely on “renewable” energy. That time may come decades down the road but today it is not necessary. Today’s top priority is affordable energy and fuel, not the concerns of environmental extremists. Until the Congress is ready to adopt a legitimate and practical energy policy, prepare yourself for $10 a gallon gas at the pump. And don’t complain about it if you voted Democrat, this is what you voted for.

What Reid and Pelosi keep trying to hide from the public is that the Republicans are not interested in passing anti-energy legislation, or any other one sided legislation where Republicans have no say in its contents, and which serves only the interests of environmental extremists. As long as the Democrat leadership continues down this path, Republicans will continue to block it. That is their job in Congress - to represent the best interests of the American people.

It’s not enough to keep the moral slide of the Baby Boomer generation contained in those outlandish years of the 60’s and 70’s.  All of the drug use and immorality is being reintroduced to a new generation of Americans. Without shame, it seems Baby Boomers (born 1946-1964) are willing to continue to flaunt immorality without consequences. If someone dares raise an issue about the need to return America back to God and to fix society’s current woes, they have the liberal establishment (mostly held by the Baby Boomer generation) to contend with. However, social issues need to be addressed. There is a HUGE need for abortion to stop its rampage on our children. There is a need for parents to step up and BE parents (stop trying to serve your own interests…looking at life like it’s “all about me” and “I can have it all”), there is a need for Americans to put God first in their lives (you can’t sing/say “God Bless America” and then ignore Him in your daily lives), there is a need for Biblical tenets and true patriotism to be taught to the younger generations, and there is a need to abstain from further action that will limit such expression.

Freedom of speech? Only for a few? I think not. How has America degraded to such a state (see article: Biblical message now criminalized below this article)?

The Baby Boomer generation needs to WAKE UP! You have dropped the ball in so many ways!  Wake up for the sake of my generation and the generations to follow. Generation X (born 1965-1978) needs leaders. Leaders will not come forth from my generation if they have no one to show them the proper guidance. Mistakes will be made that will cause our nation to falter.

Society is too hands off with younger generations. When I say “younger,” I mean Generation X, Y or the “Millennials” (born 1979-2002) as they are also called. Baby Boomers have not provided guidance…those from “The Greatest Generation” (the generation that preceded the Boomers) are leaving this Earth in rising numbers and have also looked upon this nation with sorrow and disappointment with what it has become.  Surely this isn’t the same country they grew up in or dreamed it would be.

Generation Y/”Millennials” are being indoctrinated in American Universities by the same Baby Boomers who espouse the leftist mentality. A socialist mindset inundates many of the University halls in America. But many children who attend college today did not come from households that are extreme in liberal views.

We don’t have a generation who can think for themselves and stand on what they believe. Thus, it puts our nation in peril in the coming years. My generation and those behind me will be more apt to allow the government or outside forces to govern how we live. They will be lackluster in defending their own values taught at home.

The Baby Boomer effect on Marriage

One misconception towards marriage that society has currently is that today, one should be successful or “doing well” before they meet their “Mr or Miss Right.” When one repeats the marriage vows, they may recite “…for richer or poorer…”  Marriage is about becoming one with that special someone; it is a union between a male and female …two people coming together and asking for the blessing of Almighty God, asking for His hand to guide them as they embark on a journey together in life. Whether one has money or not should not be in the equation. Yes we wish a happy newlywed couple much success, but when it is time to say “I do,” whether or not a person is financially fit (or is secure in a career) shouldn’t put a damper on a relationship. Many of the wealthy and successful in this world are known to divorce as soon as they marry.

If one person in the relationship should bring up a reason along those lines to delay (delay and delay some more) marriage, it does nothing but bring up feelings of unnecessary hurt and pain in a relationship.

The question should be, is there a bond of love and friendship that the couple can build on as they go through life? Will the couple be willing to grow together and face challenges together? Those are important questions to ask someone who is ready to walk down the aisle.

We place too high a priority on making sure everything else in our life is set before we marry someone when really marriage could be that blessing to propel two people to new heights.

My generation has such a negative view of marriage. They have been shown that example from the Baby Boomer generation (which has produced a staggering divorce rate).  In life, it is not about me, or trying to make everything perfect. Nothing in this life will ever be perfect, but when one finds real love, treasure it. It is a blessing, especially in this day and age.

Make that leap of love and fidelity and marry…don’t leave the one you love waiting for the ring because you feel you have to get “everything together” and have “everything just right”.

And for those of you playing the field….settle on someone. If we continue in such a mode where many in this country are philandering… with every other country watching our actions, we will soon be overtaken. We cannot continue to run after our lusts and be blessed as a nation.

Further Discussion and Conclusion

As one can see, I’m not to happy about the outcome the Baby Boomers have had on society. Many of the challenges my generation and those behind me face has to do with how Baby Boomers have affected society. A new program on CBS highlights the 70’s in its raunchy state. The show, Swingtown brings back to light a time when people experimented with each other’s wives and husbands and participated in other supposedly “liberating” but risky behaviors.  Boomers continue to bring that immorality to the younger generations …shoving it down our throats. It’s disgusting!

Not all Baby Boomers fall into this category. Many have acted responsibly to mold young people into decent citizens and teach sacred values and traditions that Americans hold dear. Many Boomers have confronted societal ills like racism and injustice. If you fall into this category, you have my heartfelt thanks and gratitude.  But overall, the Boomers need to re-evaluate what life is about, get a new perspective, recognize their mistakes, and help set things right.

In order to effectively do that, we all must realize we cannot do it ourselves. We must have the help of Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus gives us a chance to right our wrongs by coming to Him in repentance. Otherwise, what is to follow will be judgment and severe hardship.

We’ve been on the path of destruction long enough.  It’s time to get it right.

CNN: Obama Poll Advantage Over McCain ‘Enormous’ … in Europe

Posted by Warner Todd Huston On June - 17 - 2008

-By Warner Todd Huston

CNN calls this serious news, apparently, but a recent report about a Pew Research poll of “more than 24,000 people in 24 countries” shows that foreigners favor Barack Obama over John McCain for president. Aside from the general “who cares” of it all, why is it news that people who wish the United States ill will would pick the candidate most friendly to their interests to become our president? Shouldn’t it be obvious that foreigners would want someone that would favor their views to become the next president of the U.S.? Who would expect a Frenchman or a Swede to pick someone that would least favor a foreigner’s point of view on international politics? After all, why would a foreigner want an American president that would strongly advocate for the United States when they themselves are not Americans? Naturally, they’d gravitate to the candidate that seems to represent what Europe wants and not the candidate that would strongly advocate for the U.S.A.

And on top of that, why the heck would an American care what a foreigner thinks about U.S. elections? Yet, in theirs headlined “Poll: Image of US will ‘change for the better’ with Obama,” here is CNN acting as if this is important and perhaps shocking news that Obama has an “enormous” polling advantage among foreigners.

(CNN)—Despite increasing economic concerns and an on-going war in Iraq, a new international poll finds a widespread belief in many countries that United States foreign policy “will change for the better” once a new administration is sworn into office, particularly if Sen. Barack Obama is elected president.

The international poll conducted by Pew Research of more than 24,000 people in 24 countries found people who have been following the U.S. elections feel more confident Obama “will do the right thing,” with regards to foreign relations than John McCain.

Golly, gee. And by “do the right thing” here we are talking about doing what is best for Europeans not what is best for Americans. After all, the poll question was not which will make a better U.S. president for the U.S. The question was which do they want as president. Since they weren’t asked to put themselves in the shoes of the US population, they certainly based their answers on their own self interest, not ours.

McCain has lower ratings than Obama in every country surveyed except the U.S., where the two presumptive nominees run neck and neck.

Obama’s advantage over McCain is enormous particularly in France, Germany, and Australia, where the Illinois senator leads McCain by up to 51 percentage points.

Should we bother to remind CNN that the only place those ratings they are so concerned about matters is the U.S., the place where the actual voting occurs?

And when was the last time you ever saw a story that reported the “poll” of Americans who were asked which German candidate, or which Australian or French candidate they wanted to win the elections in those counties? Ah, there never was such a poll because it isn’t our place to say. Just as it isn’t a European’s place to say who should be elected here.

And this last paragraph is the most egregious of them all.

Overall, there is little confidence in the United States in general among those surveyed in the Middle Eastern countries of Pakistan and Jordan. McCain has a confidence rating of 6 percent in Pakistan, while Obama garners 10 percent. “In Jordan and Egypt, more people who are following the election say they expect new leadership to change U.S. foreign policy for the worse than say they expect a change for the better,” according to the survey.

Pew Research went to enemies of our country to ask which candidate they wanted for president? Why in God’s name would Pew ask people, many of whom are our avowed enemies, who they want as our president? What possible use is there for this poll?

Worse, the fact that they all picked Obama should make the Obama campaign ashamed of their candidate. These people in the Middle East want us dead, they want us destroyed and hobbled. If they are picking Obama to win, that means they think that between he and McCain, Obama will be the weakest, lest able of the two! They certainly aren’t voting for who they think will be better for us!

Of course, what is the main purpose of this story? To denigrate McCain and to get Obama elected, naturally. What foreigners think of our candidates and elections is immaterial, it has to be said, but if CNN can show that everyone loves them some Barack, and then can use that as a club to beat down McCain, why then we are golden — at least as far as CNN is concerned.

News? Bah, who cares if it is really news? It’s all about pushing Barack Obama down the throats of the American voter by making them feel they should vote for the Obamessiah because foreigners like him. And, gosh, we DO want foreigners to like us, too, don’t we?
