Sunset On The Clinton Era

Posted by Christopher Adamo On June - 11 - 2008

Momentarily setting aside the tragic impact on America, should Barack Obama be elected president, it is nonetheless worthwhile to ponder the significance of Hillary Clinton’s announcement last Saturday that she is dropping out of the presidential race. To be precise, she is “suspending” her campaign which, considering the history of the Clinton dynasty, could indicate that in her mind, this contest is not yet settled.

Nevertheless, her announcement highlights an awareness on her part that, at least for the moment, she cannot succeed in a toe-to-toe contest against Obama. So despite the many ominous circumstances facing this country, heartland America can heave a collective sigh of relief. The nightmare of the Clinton epoch appears to be over. Indeed, Obama’s empty rhetoric about “change and hope” belies his intellectually vacant political philosophy. But in light of past experience with the Clintons and their reputation of promoting themselves at everyone else’s expense, almost any “change” would seem to portend an improvement.

From the moment she burst upon the national scene in 1992, Hillary Clinton displayed an understanding of the qualities necessary for political dominance in an environment where the law represents a mere obstacle to the aspirations and methods of the blindly ambitious. On more than one occasion during her Congressional testimonies, she all but challenged her inquisitors with her audacious “I do not recall” responses, mocking them and essentially daring them to resort to increase the heat in efforts to make her confess to wrongdoing.

As this facet of the Clinton scheme played out, the truth became completely irrelevant. Instead of matters being determined on the basis of facts, things degenerated into a battle of nerves which she knew she would win.

Clearly, she was the driving force behind the Clintonian strategy of flouting the law not only as a means of ensuring a particular end, but as a challenge to any who might take exception. In essence her actions announced “This is my plan. Interfere at your own risk.” Time and again, her method paid off handsomely. Few on the Republican side of the aisle had the resolve to stand against her. And as the impeachment debacle proved, those who attempted to do so were all too often undermined by fellow “Republicans.”

The most unfortunate aspect of the situation as it currently stands is that it took a Democrat to shatter Hillary’s concocted aura of invincibility. Midway through Bill Clinton’s second term, it became obvious that Hillary had her sights on the White House, and would stop at nothing to get there. Reacting to her telegraphed ambitions, much of the Republican Party has been running terrified ever since, essentially accepting the notion of her “invincibility,” and politicking on that basis, often at the expense of its own governing philosophies.

Throughout the final term of George W. Bush’s presidency, and particularly after the dismal 2006 midterm elections, much of the leadership of the GOP has been fixated only on one thing, how to prevail against the presumably unstoppable Hillary juggernaut. Had Republicans shown a bit more collective spine, and not let themselves be so intimidated by her now thoroughly discredited persona of political prowess, they might well have pursued a proactive agenda touting traditional conservative principles to much greater benefit for the nation as well as to their own political fortunes.

Even the field of Republican presidential candidates who ended up running, along with some whose names were floated for several years prior to the race, often reflected a myopic strategy of prevailing over Hillary’s “super candidate” persona instead of establishing a rallying point for real conservatives.

Among others, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was suggested, not for her leadership qualities or a conservative political philosophy that could resonate with the Republican grassroots, but merely on the basis that being a woman, she might somehow neutralize Hillary’s strongest (we were told) suit. In the process, Republicans forgot to formulate campaigns that truly embodied the winning Republican/conservative principles of smaller government, and support for the moral fabric of a healthy society that enables it to flourish and prosper without the intrusions of the nanny state.

Ironically, the entire air of Clintonian political radiance was, from the beginning, merely a media fabrication. Bill won his two presidential elections with less than half of the smallest voter turnout in nearly a century. And Hillary vaulted into the United States Senate merely as a result of Rudy Giuliani’s untimely bout with prostate cancer. Only a cowardly opposition would grant them political dominance under such circumstances. But, being the opportunists that they are, the Clintons recognized that such was precisely the nature of their Republican adversaries.

Many politicians lie, but the Clintons raised the behavior to an overt level previously unseen, even in Washington. Many politicians engage in shady dealings, but the Clintons flagrantly consorted with the Communist Chinese and their Indonesian surrogates, simply ignoring cries of outrage as literal bags of dirty money passed into their hands. And many politicians attempt to intimidate their opposition, but the Clintons did so by brazenly involving the FBI, IRS, and other federal agencies as they attempted to destroy any who stood in their way.

Washington, and indeed the nation, have been irreparably changed by the Clintons. The “hardball” politics of the past has given way to Congressional “debates” in which facts and truth are irrelevant. Conventions that recognized the need to stand unified against the threats of foreign adversaries have putrefied and degenerated to a level where in their quest for power the Democrats now voice overt sympathies towards America’s mortal enemies while castigating the U.S. military on specious and often totally contrived grounds.

So, despite the myriad of perils that the nation faces, it is nonetheless fitting that at this precipitous time, the Clintons are being unceremoniously expelled by the pitiless political monster they worked so feverishly to create.

Selected, Not Elected II

Posted by Bob Parks On June - 11 - 2008

A fair amount of people (those who seldom agree with me on anything) take issue with my use of the phrase “Affirmative Action president” when referring to Barack Obama. Like many who even today receive preferential treatment in hiring or admissions because of their race or gender, Obama hasn’t put in the time, thus is considered vastly inexperienced when it comes to his applying for the top job in our nation.

And the perception is he is receiving a lot of support where it shouldn’t be coming from.

According to a new Rasmussen poll,

Just 17% of voters nationwide believe that most reporters try to offer unbiased coverage of election campaigns. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that four times as many—68%–believe most reporters try to help the candidate that they want to win.

The perception that reporters are advocates rather than observers is held by 82% of Republicans, 56% of Democrats, and 69% of voters not affiliated with either major party. The skepticism about reporters cuts across income, racial, gender, and age barriers.

Now while I’ve been documenting examples of media bias for years, it’s kind of comforting to know it’s beginning to stick, and the American people aren’t going to take it anymore.

Pardon my repetition, but the point has to be made: liberals want a black man (or woman) to win this fall’s presidential election. In this case, they have Barack Obama.

Today, the media has selected him. Tomorrow they will work in concert to get him elected. It has everything to do with self-imposed white guilt and condescension, and has nothing to do with his qualifications (or lack thereof).

For example, using this season’s candidates as examples,

If Janet Huckabee wrote a college thesis saying that she felt uncomfortable around her liberal black professors and students in college, would that have been “understood” by the mainstream media, or would Mrs. Huckabee have had the scarlet “R” burnt into her forehead?

I think we all know what the answer would’ve been. Janet would still be on her “apology tour”, would have attended at least one sensitivity training to get her mind right, would have done quality time at some inner city community center, been a guest on Al Sharpton’s radio show to accept her punches with no guarantee of forgiveness, and would still have it all hanging over her head and staining her husband’s campaign (as long as it lasted).

Liberals are morally-equating the John McCain-Reverend John Hagee “relationship” to that of Barack Obama-Pastor Jeremiah Wright. While the length and quality of the associations vary to the point where a comparison isn’t logically possible, imagine the media firestorm if Hagee had a whole DVD library of speeches where he blamed black males for raping white women, and/or black women for ballooning the welfare rolls by giving birth around 70% without a husband to support her kids. In that context, imagine if Reverend Hagee shouted, “God damn America!”

Just what do you think would have happened to John McCain’s campaign if he claimed to have gone on an overseas visit to our soldiers, and dodged sniper fire after getting off the plane, causing him and others to serpentine their way to the nearest cover? What do you think would be the status of his campaign today if video surfaced of him on the tarmac in that country, receiving a flower from a little girl, surrounded by dignitaries from that nation, nary a sniper’s bullet whizzing by?

Let’s be honest here. John McCain would be toast, finis, end of story, with a fork stuck in him.

And let’s not even try and guess how hard the media WOULD be digging if there was a rumor that Ann Romney was videotaped at a private gathering, blaming corrupt “nigger” politicians running unstable governments in Africa that’s resulted in the deaths of millions of Africans. How long would this remain a “rumor”? Do you think the media would be disregarding it, or seeking to prove/disprove it once and for all?

Again, I go back to the statement my very first editor sent me out the door with…

“It’s the job of the media to report the news. Not incite it.”

It’s too bad today’s reporters feel so comfortable blowing off the basic ethics of journalism, as they not only want to report a story of potential historical importance, but they also want to be a part of it. As many of us know, many of today’s liberally trained journalism students leave school not wanting to report the news as it happens.

They want to “make a difference”, and the only real way to do that, as a journalist is to go beyond the job description.

The media knows how much power it has. They know how to use it. It doesn’t matter how many times they get caught red-handed slanting a story to their personal preference, they will continue to do so until they get what they want.

Barack Obama. Selected, and the media is working to get him elected.

Why Can’t McCain Say “Oil”?

Posted by Alan Caruba On June - 11 - 2008

While grabbing a bite to eat for lunch, I turned on the television and MSNBC was broadcasting live a presentation John McCain was making somewhere. He does well in these relatively unscripted events, but when he got to the topic of the price of gasoline and how to reduce current and future pain at the pump, he could not bring himself to say “oil.”He ran off a string of “alternative” energy ideas such as solar, wind, nuclear, and “a battery that will let your car go a hundred miles” on a single charge, but there was no mention of America’s vast oil reserves in Alaska or the billions of barrels geologists believe exist in our continental shelf, 85% of which Congress has put off-limits to exploration or drilling. There was also no mention of the coal that accounts for more than 50% of the electricity in the U.S. and which would be required by his magical future automobiles. In fairness, neither Bill Clinton, nor George W. Bush favored drilling in the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge where an estimated 7 to 15 billion barrels of oil exists. That’s a total of 16 wasted years when we could have been extracting it.

That is precisely why America has become dependent on foreign oil, the price of which is currently being bid up by speculators worried about more war in the Middle East, i.e., an imminent attack on Iran. First we had to kick Saddam Hussein out of Kuwait and then we decided to remove him entirely. Was this about tyranny or oil? Read my lips: O-I-L.As for Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the same action Israel took first with Iraq and more recently with Syria

would end that. Or we could, in cooperation with the European Union and other nations, cut off foreign investment and markets to the ayatollahs until they cry “Uncle Sam!”As the Saudis keep telling us, there is plenty of global oil to meet our needs, but it is the mercantile exchanges around the world where the price is set. Lacking an adequate domestic supply, Americans depend daily on the importation of 10.1 million barrels of foreign oil. We use 5.1 million barrels of domestic oil, and are required to add 0.4 million barrels of ethanol.

You can thank OPEC and Jimmy Carter for the pathetic state of domestic oil production. It has been in decline since the OPEC oil embargo that saw the first real jump in prices at the pump. You would have thought we would have taken a look at our capacity for domestic oil production, but what Carter did and some politicians (Obama!)are advocating today was to impose a “windfall profits” tax on American investor-owned oil companies.

All of a sudden the incentive to spend the millions required to find oil and produce it for domestic consumption disappeared, a condition that dates back to at least 1985. Thereafter, since most of the places in America where oil can be found were put off-limits, U.S. oil companies decided to look and drill for oil elsewhere in the world. (The exception is the Gulf of Mexico.)With either McCain or Obama in the White House, new domestic exploration and drilling is not likely to happen, particularly since McCain cannot bring himself to even say the word “oil” and Obama wants to seize oil company profits in precisely the same way Jimmy Carter sabotaged the industry.

The recent charade of hauling oil company executives before a congressional committee demonstrates what idiots we have elected to high office.

While McCain is reeling off his list of alternative energy sources, he neglects to mention you can’t pour solar, wind or nuclear energy into the tank of an automobile, truck or tractor! McCain has drunk deeply of the global warming Kool-Aid and favors the kind of carbon credit program that was just defeated in the Senate. Both he and Obama were conveniently out of town when the vote on Al Gore’s cap-and-trade scheme was taken. Otherwise we would have discovered that both candidates cannot wait to destroy what is left of our economy.

How to turn things around is almost too simple.

First, get rid of the congressional mandate for ethanol. Ethanol effluent pollutes more than gasoline and ethanol insures less mileage per gallon. It has significantly distorted the worldwide agricultural marketplace.

Second, get rid of the EPA mandate for the formulation of some 45 different blends of gasoline that drive up the cost in various areas of the nation. Consumers end up paying for all this essentially useless additional refining process. Unless you live in some place where the natural geography contributes to smog, the air in most of the nation is just fine.

Third, open up ANWR to drilling. NOW!

Fourth, let oil companies explore and drill for oil and natural gas offshore of our coasts. Environmentalists want to build miles of ugly wind farms there, but a couple of drill platforms are apparently too awful to endure for the literally billions of barrels of oil and trillions of cubic feet of natural gas that exist.

Then wait patiently as the price of oil and natural gas drop like a stone.

Frankly both the presidential candidates scare the hell out of me, but I will settle for McCain if he just begins to say that magic word, OIL. Alan Caruba writes a daily blog at http://factsnotfantasy.blogspot. The Preachers and Candidates Wars of 2008

Posted by Rev. Michael Bresciani On June - 11 - 2008

Pastors Wright, Hagee and Parsley have been thrown under the bus and Dr. Dobson is still under scrutiny as he continues to size up the presidential candidates. Who is a casualty and who is the victor in this war between pastors and presidential hopefuls?

When the evangelicals felt they got burned by Jimmy Carter they chose more carefully the next time around and Ronald Reagan did not disappoint them. President Bush has not so much disappointed the Christians but the nation with what seems to be failed war policies. The jury is still out on that because only history will tell if the war in Iraq was a complete failure.

Choosing a candidate that best reflects the views of evangelicals has become harder and some would say an exercise in choosing between the lesser of two evils. In fact it seems more important to America than ever before who the candidates choose rather than who the evangelicals choose. So far no one has gotten picked but a few have gotten popped!

The first casualty in the preacher’s war would be Rev Jeremiah Wright. The question of whether he deserved the hit is moot. On any level social, theological or political he has never had a leg to stand on. The most amazing aspect of the entire matter is that when Sen. Obama distanced himself from his pastor the only casualty in that skirmish was the Reverend Wright. Sen. Obama has sailed out of the entire matter with few if any of his supporters dropping off. If George Bush could be so easily forgiven we might be urging him to invade Iran instead of leaving Iraq. The only explanation is perhaps; “it’s a liberal thing.”

Rev John Hagee has been shunned by Sen. John McCain because of remarks about Hitler being used to indirectly lead Israel to their homeland again in 1948. Commentators have joined the harangue with phrases like “outrageous” including conservative talk shows like CNNs Glenn Beck. Is it outrageous? In fact it is not. Any person who has read their bible only once would see that the ancient prophets and now history confirm that God promises he will use the wicked and the powers of evil or good to do what he wants to get done.  He has said that he will use nations far more backward than Israel to judge them for their backsliding and history backs up those prophetic utterances. The scripture passages that verify these promises and proclamations are too numerous to list here.

John Hagee understands the principle of Romans 8:28 which says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” But being more theologically grounded than any presidential candidate now running for the White House he knows something they don’t comprehend or more accurately; may have never even heard of. Using death, darkness, warfare, despots or holy angels from the throne are all within what is known as the sovereignty of God. The Bible has made that abundantly clear and John Hagee’s assertions are absolutely accurate and reasonable.

Every Pre-exilic prophet unanimously agreed that Israel would be blasted by their enemies each time they went too far. When they went too far for simple incursions to chastise them they underwent a total invasion and subsequent 70 year long captivity. The nation (Babylon) that pummeled Israel was among the most Godless backward pagan nations in world history. All of Israel’s prophets warned of the captivity for about 40 years before it happened. They were the John Hagee’s of their time and they too were shunned, scoffed at and disregarded. But it didn’t end there! The same prophets warned Israel all the way through the reign of the Medes and Persians, the Greeks and the Romans that they would finally be driven throughout the entire world (Diaspora) and pursued by the sword, famine and hatred. Who was to do most of the persecution was not mentioned by the scriptures; for that we have only to refer to history. Guess what; history did give us a name and it is Adolph Hitler. John Hagee didn’t decide this; history did.

It should also be noted that after the Diaspora God promised to bring Israel back to their homeland and within one generation the Messiah would return to earth and remove governments from the hands of men. Since that return also included the City of Jerusalem the generation would not begin in May of 1948 when the Nation of Israel was reborn but it began in 1967 when Israel took back Jerusalem. Since a generation can be from 25 to 75 years depending on who you ask; you do the math.

Pastor Rod Parsley has been lumped together with Rev. Hagee but that too is a serious mistake. Parsley has been lambasted for his strong anti Islamic stand and for claiming the Koran is a satanically inspired book. Being anti-Islamic does not make Rev Parsley anti Muslim. It is the religion of Islam and the spurious origins of the Koran that is in question. Is Pastor Parsley just another off the wall preacher who doesn’t have a clue. Not by a long shot!

It was the prophet Muhammad who first questioned the inspiration of the Koran. He thought his dreams and visions were from Satan. Encouraged by his wife to ignore his fears the Koran was born. America is waltzing down the liberal fantasy path strewn with dainty little flowers with names like tolerance and diversity and in our euphoria we don’t seem to see the double standard we are living in. We are willing to argue whether God really meant business on things like adultery, homosexuality and other commandments and admonitions but we demand that no one be critical of a religion and a book (Koran) that clearly allows murdering anyone who refuses its spurious tenants.

Pastor Parsley should be given a medal for fearlessly proclaiming what the rest of America refuses to face. He is against a religion of death and a book that leads men to murder and hatred all in the name of God. Rev. Parsley is only reiterating one of the most immutable aspects of the bible and common sense. All that claims to be spiritual or religious is not divine. The Arch Deceiver (Satan) is not averse to using religion to sink mankind; in fact it is his chief tool. Salvation is what men need and that is what Christ came to provide not another religion.

John McCain is a maverick Republican and that makes the GOP jittery. He is also a patriot who has paid dearly to defend and support his country. Although it makes him no less of a man or a fine candidate he is not a theologian. His shunning of two brilliant and Godly pastors is ill advised but he is a politician not a prophet.

Political pundits, news media and talk show hosts may not think they need advisors who know the scripture. Pop notions, political hoopla and common wisdom can suffice to carry on a rap. With presidential candidates it behooves them to find someone who is grounded and well informed in these matters before speaking on them or shunning those that do. Although up to now no candidate has done this; they may wish they had before this election is finished.

We should be reminded of Christ’s admonition to “Give unto Caesar the things that are Caesars and give unto God the things that are Gods.” It should be noted that God can and still decides who will be Caesar but Caesar still has no power to decide who will be God. The prophet Daniel said it best some 800 years before Christ. “This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.” Daniel 4:17

The liars, it turns out, are liberal-progressives, not President Bush.

Read ‘Bush Lied’? If Only It Were That Simple. by Fred Hiatt, the Washington Post editorial page editor. In the editorial dated June 9, 2008, Mr. Hiatt writes:

Search the Internet for “Bush Lied” products, and you will find sites that offer more than a thousand designs. The basic “Bush Lied, People Died” bumper sticker is only the beginning.

Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-W.Va.), chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence, set out to provide the official foundation for what has become not only a thriving business but, more important, an article of faith among millions of Americans. And in releasing a committee report Thursday, he claimed to have accomplished his mission, though he did not use the L-word.

“In making the case for war, the administration repeatedly presented intelligence as fact when it was unsubstantiated, contradicted or even nonexistent,” he said…

But dive into Rockefeller’s report, in search of where exactly President Bush lied about what his intelligence agencies were telling him about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, and you may be surprised by what you find.”

Repeatedly in his summation, Mr. Hiatt quotes Senator Rockefeller’s report as stating,”…The president’s statements “were generally substantiated by intelligence community estimates.”

…But the phony “Bush lied” story line distracts from the biggest prewar failure: the fact that so much of the intelligence upon which Bush and Rockefeller and everyone else relied turned out to be tragically, catastrophically wrong.

Mr. Hiatt’s summation is not to be dismissed as a conservative view point. The Post is, along with the New York Times, one of the premier liberal media voices in the nation.

In an editorial dated September 1, 2006, the Post stated:

Nevertheless, it now appears that the person most responsible for the end of Ms. Plame’s CIA career is [her husband Joe] Wilson. Mr. Wilson chose to go public with an explosive charge, claiming – falsely, as it turned out – that he had debunked reports of Iraqi uranium-shopping in Niger and that his report had circulated to senior administration officials. He ought to have expected that both those officials and journalists such as Mr. Novak would ask why a retired ambassador would have been sent on such a mission and that the answer would point to his wife. He diverted responsibility from himself and his false charges by claiming that President Bush’s closest aides had engaged in an illegal conspiracy. It’s unfortunate that so many people took him seriously.

The Washington Post’s original demolition of the phony claims of Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame was delivered in an article dated July 10, 2004:

Plame’s Input Is Cited on Niger Mission
Report Disputes Wilson’s Claims on Trip, Wife’s Role
By Susan Schmidt

Former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, dispatched by the CIA in February 2002 to investigate reports that Iraq sought to reconstitute its nuclear weapons program with uranium from Africa, was specifically recommended for the mission by his wife, a CIA employee, contrary to what he has said publicly…

Wilson’s assertions – both about what he found in Niger and what the Bush administration did with the information – were undermined yesterday in a bipartisan Senate intelligence committee report.

The panel found that Wilson’s report, rather than debunking intelligence about purported uranium sales to Iraq, as he has said, bolstered the case for most intelligence analysts. And contrary to Wilson’s assertions and even the government’s previous statements, the CIA did not tell the White House it had qualms about the reliability of the Africa intelligence that made its way into 16 fateful words in President Bush’s January 2003 State of the Union address…

The report also said Wilson provided misleading information to The Washington Post last June. He said then that he concluded the Niger intelligence was based on documents that had clearly been forged because “the dates were wrong and the names were wrong.”

Committee staff asked how the former ambassador could have come to the conclusion that the ‘dates were wrong and the names were wrong’ when he had never seen the CIA reports and had no knowledge of what names and dates were in the reports,” the Senate panel said. Wilson told the panel he may have been confused and may have “misspoken” to reporters. The documents – purported sales agreements between Niger and Iraq – were not in U.S. hands until eight months after Wilson made his trip to Niger.

Democrats Try to Make Military Press Conferences Illegal

Posted by Warner Todd Huston On June - 11 - 2008

-By Warner Todd Huston

Congressional Democrats announced early in May that they wanted to make “military propaganda” illegal. To achieve this goal they passed new legislation that strengthened previous legislation that is supposed to ban the Pentagon from indulging in “propaganda” for the military.

This bill is supposed to stop the military from sending “any form of communication in support of national objectives designed to influence the opinions, emotions, attitudes or behavior of the people of the United States in order to benefit the sponsor, either directly or indirectly.”

In other words, the military is not allowed to talk to the American people or Congress for fear of disseminating “propaganda.”

The only way to fulfill this idiotic policy is to stop anyone in the military from ever speaking in public because, when you get right down to it, nearly any communication from the Pentagon, or any command staff in theater, will have the effect of “influencing” those who hear it. That is the nature of human communication, after all.

Of course this is a silly concept that the Democrat Party has come up with. Every single thing that man conceives of must be “sold” to everyone else to get implemented. The idea is born in the minds of one or a few and then those disciples of the idea go forth and begin a campaign to convince those who can put that idea into place that the idea is worthy of support. In essence, that is propaganda in its simplest form. The happy face is put on, the hands are shaken, and the plan is laid out for discussion. This is called being human! It’s how we all get things done.

Besides, what level of information becomes propaganda and what just “information”? To a rabid, anti-military nut any words from the Pentagon is “propaganda.” To the highest booster, none are. Who is to determine when what is being said becomes “propaganda”?

My guess is no one in the Democrat caucus is smart enough to know.

But, let’s look at the real reason this simple-minded policy was created. The real reason the Democrats want such a policy in place is to silence the military entirely. Democrats aren’t interested in keeping the tender ears of the people from being assaulted with “propaganda.” No, they want to be able to shut the military off from being able to appear before the American people to defend themselves against Democrat attacks. THAT is the true goal.

If the Democrat Party can keep the Pentagon in the can, then Congress and the Democrat Party will be the conduit of information between the military and the people. And the Democrat Party finds an enemy in the American military. So, what better way to further their own propaganda then by making sure the enemy’s will never be heard.

Stalin would be proud of Congressional democrats.

Where No Enemy Has Gone Before

Posted by Erik Rush On June - 11 - 2008

There’s an axiom in Recovery (as in from addiction) circles which asserts that addictions are but symptoms of deeper emotional or psychological problems. Leaving aside the debate as to whether this holds water, I submit that the tremendous success of Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama is but a symptom of the broader disease: The establishment media (which includes broadcast news and print sources as well as the entertainment media) has finally subverted enough of the collective mind of America to usher in the era of socialism toward which the far Left has been maneuvering us for the last 40 years.

Like the seizure that alerted Sen. Ted Kennedy’s doctors that he was suffering from a grave condition, it is just a symptom – albeit a very nasty one.

“A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals…”

-          “Agent K,” from the film Men in Black

Being convinced that the Republican Party is to blame for taking us to places we would rather not and shouldn’t have gone, and that the George W. Bush presidency was a mistake that never should have happened, Americans are now shambling, glassy-eyed and drooling toward “Change,” too transfixed by the captivating ultraviolet glow to hear the crackle of those who burst into nothingness in line ahead of them.

They have no idea what they’ve bought into, of course, the magnitude of the lies and the peril which awaits. They do not fathom that they are accepting a fundamental change in the paradigm of our social system from one in which the industrious and principled prosper versus one in which the indolent and capricious prosper.

As regards the political continuum in modern America, over the past 40 years the Democrat Party leadership transmogrified from elitist liberals into socialists. In the last 20, the Republican Party leadership became liberals, and the media has been a prime mover in this transformation. Having themselves been manipulated by those in the press to heed them rather than their constituents and conservative elements within the party leadership (which had brought past success), eunuchs in the GOP, driven by fear for their image and personal self-interest, sold America out to deviant parasites.

The walking mediocrities among the far Left (politically-active ideologues) and duped middle class voters believe the playing field will be “leveled” for them and “the downtrodden” once the faceless “rich” are brought under their leaders’ sway. There is nothing in the historical record that indicates that they will have anything to look forward to but misery, abuse and pain, but logic is immaterial. By design, the power brokers of the far Left appealed to their emotions, not their intellect.

The power brokers and their operatives (such as those in the press, for example) believe that they will be among the unassailable elite. Once again, despite the historical record, they don’t believe they will ever be counted among those who, in a fit of melancholy, climb into the trunk of an automobile and shoot themselves repeatedly in the head, as so many prominent figures in far Left regimes wind up doing.

Just a few of the dangerously dishonest representations in which the press has engaged over the last eight years:

-          Television news bureaus withheld the more gruesome 9/11 footage – too graphic for their audiences, of course. The same criteria somehow doesn’t apply to video of terrorists killed by American troops in Iraq. This was the beginning of their systematically propagandizing Americans into forgetting 9/11.

-          Engendering sympathy for retrograde culture (at which they have excelled for some time) and radical Islamist killers are among other wild subjectivities put forth by the press concerning the War on Terror in general.

-          The Iraq campaign was supposed to be over in half an hour. The scope and the frequency of the falsehoods, minimizations, manipulations and exacerbations conveyed by the press to Americans in this area are too numerous to address.

-          Slandered, maligned and generally demonized President Bush and the Republican Party –  unfortunately, with their help – on a scale never seen previously.

-          Exhibited barefaced partiality for Sen. Barack Obama during the Democrat Party’s primary process, evidenced by their downplaying glaring and perilous deficiencies in the candidate.

-          The press knows that Mexican drug lords essentially own the U.S. – Mexico border. American women are being abducted from our southern border towns and spirited away south of the border to face unimaginable fates. Atrocities reminiscent of the Mongol invasion of China are taking place along the border every day. How many Americans (who don’t live in border towns) are aware of these occurrences?

-          While the far Left escalates its quest to stamp out Christianity in America, the religion is literally exploding in Asia and Africa, where believers hold to their faith despite persecution Christians have not experienced since the time of ancient Rome.
